one thing i’ve learned from songwriting is that a song can only capture a specific snapshot in time, even if life’s trajectory eventually circles you back to a similar place.
i wrote this track straight after i was asked to move on. almost four months later, things are still changing, but this is my side of the story and my feelings to tell. we’re allowed to hold onto the angst and the grudges while still reminiscing about the good times we used to have.
i never meant for this song to speak an esoteric language, but there’s always a loss in translation between the writer and the audience. at the end of the day, token has always been about one singular thing, and that’s just it.
time to get back to the studio and record the next one. 🪙
