Society of the Golden Slippers

Society of the Golden Slippers Dedicated to the discovery and celebration of musical talent. "London's best kept secret" Clash All events are free but strictly by guest list only.

Founded in April 2010 by Jen Roberts, the Society produces exclusive, candlelit music nights for industry insiders and fans. Named after the cockney rhyming slang for 'tippers' - a word used in the music industry to represent 'about to break' artists - as well as the ‘hit’ music hall classic 'oh dem golden slippers', Golden Slippers is devoted to supporting major musical talent and providing live showcase & networking events in beautiful, candlelit and intimate settings. The specially invited audience regularly includes music industry leaders, critics, tastemakers and bloggers. Guests can enjoy a showcase of major talents ('tippers') that have in the past included The Civil Wars, Sam Smith, Laura Mvula, Lisa Marie Presley, KT Tunstall, John Grant, Liz Fraser, Daughter, Jake Bugg, Birdy, Mahalia, Nadine Shah, Michael Kiwanuka, Ed Harcourt, Lucy Rose, Dry The River, Luke Sital-Singh, Nick Mulvey, Kristina Train and many more. Current venues include: The Groucho Club, Century Club, Soho House and the Royal Albert Hall. New members are welcome and guest list requests should be emailed to Jen Roberts ([email protected]). Please include a brief introduction in your email. (More details on our guest list policy below.) Because of the limited capacity of the venues, guests are forewarned to arrive early. SERVICES

Society of the Golden Slippers also offers a bespoke service for labels and management companies looking to present their artists in exclusive London locations. We work with several private members clubs and historic venues, including the Freud Museum, and the Royal Albert Hall, to provide a stunning location for your showcase. We also offer live recording and events planning for private clients. Please email [email protected] to discuss your requirements. PRESS

**THE GUEST LIST**

Our guest list is free but very limited. Priority remains with society regulars, club members and music/media professionals. Requests should be emailed to the address below. If you are unknown to us, please include a brief introduction in your email. Requests for the guest list always far outstrips capacity, so please do not be offended if we can't squeeze you in. Requests via text message or Facebook are not accepted. It is also worth knowing that artists have their own very limited guest lists for the events, so you might want to try their management team as an alternative option. Email: Jen - [email protected]

ANNA PHOEBE

Anna Phoebe is a composer, producer, performer and broadcaster whose work exists at the intersection of classical, electronic and experimental music. Renowned for her visceral, violin-led soundscapes, she crafts bold, emotionally charged works that balance raw human energy with cutting-edge sonic exploration. Drawing inspiration from both the natural world and technological frontiers, her music moves fluidly between intimacy and scale, from quiet meditations to cinematic intensity.

Anna’s solo albums – Sea Souls (2021), Sea Souls (Live) (2022), Sea Souls (Reworks) (2023) and Divergence (2025) – are described as dialogues between the sea and the psyche: love letters to the sea, loss and the shifting tectonics of emotion.

Anna regularly collaborates with Mary Anne Hobbs, including a debut performance at Tate Britain described as a “living artwork”. They’ve since appeared at the BBC 6 Music Festival, Glastonbury Festival and Manchester International Festival.

As a screen composer, Anna co-scored Apple TV+’s The Buccaneers and has written for Channel 4, ITV and the BBC, winning Best Composer at Underwire.

She also co-hosts Add to Playlist on BBC Radio 4 and is a Senator of The Ivors Academy.

Golden Slippers are thrilled to be joined by the brilliant Rae Morris on June 3rd!

To most of you, Rae will be no stranger, we’ve had the honour of hosting her four times over the past decade. For those yet to be introduced, The Telegraph have accurately referred to her as “a ray of light”. You’ll hear why on June 3rd.

We’ve also invited back the wonderful Laura Elizabeth Hughes to open; she’ll be flying in from Ireland especially. Many of you were enthralled by her performance with us a couple of years ago, opening for Luke Sital-Singh.

If you’re interested, please be quick - our events tend to sell out quickly. Link to Eventbrite in our bio or email Jen directly.

Hosted by legendary BAFTA-winning TV presenter, .

See you there!
