We were back in Parliament today for the recording ofĀ Simon Says, Let's Talk - a social prescribedĀ podcast opening up the conversation around men's wellbeing. His guests were Groove Armada's Tom Findlay and Tom Walker (Jonathan Pie) and we heard about their approaches to mental health, how they overcome struggles and unexpected inspiration in dark times š¤
One thing that stood out to me was the need for positive male role models - we hear of so many men doing bad things but we need to champion the good ones š The ones who take time to check in with you and have deeper conversations than just what the latest football lineup is.
Not every mental health problem needs pills. Sometimes what people need is a room full of humans, a bit of laughter and the reminder that they're not alone.Ā The UK is actually one of the world leaders in social prescribing. We just need more people to know it exists!
Social prescribing, particularly using comedy and play to improve mental health, is one of the reasons we set up Playface so it was incredible to be part of this. Special shout out to for inviting us and everything they are doing to pioneer comedy š«
