⭐️MEET THE TEAM⭐️
Phoebe, second year Comparative Literature student, has created the poster for the production:
‘I take great interests in any topics related to intermediality. Creating posters for SELCS Theatre Project has always been a meaningful journey for me. This year, in order to find inspirations, I read the scripts, watched several rehearsals as well as some former productions of Yerma. These multisensory experiences have eventually transcended mere artistic appreciation and made me reflect upon what a woman like Yerma would have to endure in her life and how to make sense out of such a life. I’m also really grateful to have met this lovely team where everyone devotes to their roles and has supported and inspired each other so much. I believe the outcome of this project would be amazing because of everyone’s efforts in it.’

⭐️MEET THE TEAM⭐️
Shivam, second year BA German and Spanish student, has been taking care of sound & audio:
‘I joined this project relatively late, but have been nonetheless highly impressed with how the cast and creative team have adapted this 1930's work for a modern audience. One way that they've done this is through the use of multimedia, to create an immersive theatre experience. Combined with an engaging script and a talented cast, I'm sure that this production will stand out. Hope to see as many of you there as possible!’

⭐️MEET THE TEAM⭐️
Shining, out makeup artist is doing MA Comparative Literature:
‘It has been so exciting for me to get involved in the creative project. Although the play Yerma was unfamiliar to me, I really enjoy working with such a wonderful and dynamic team. Thinking about the role of a woman, a mother is a very complex and meaningful subject in modern society. This play touches on the tension between frustration and passion and I have always been moved during the process. I can't wait to see our actors' marvelous performance on stage!’

⭐️MEET THE TEAM⭐️
Anna, the stage manager, is a second year BA Language and Culture student:
‘I have always been drawn to participate in creative projects and having studied Lorca as part of my degree and back at school, this production seemed like a perfect opportunity! Lorca’s writing style and his eloquent use of metaphors, symbolism and imagery is something I have always found fascinating. To me, ‘Yerma’ seemed to be very much rooted in the particular social context of rural Spain in the 1930s and I was very curious to see how it can be transplanted into the modern day. This initially drew me to participate in the project last year, although, sadly, the show did not go ahead due to the pandemic. I was very excited to find out that this new academic year gave ‘Yerma’ another chance!’

⭐️MEET THE TEAM⭐️
Vassilissa, the assistant director, is a first year Italian and Norwegian student:
‘I've been so excited and honoured to be participating in this project. Yerma is a play I wasn't familiar with previously but I feel it approaches topics that are so vital in our consideration of what it is to be a woman and a mother in a modern world. I'm so proud of the whole team and the actors that will bring it to life March 28th-29th!’
