Before Henry Hampshire, there was this.

One of my favourite scenes to film — opposite the brilliant Martin Freeman in BREEDERS.

It’s funny looking back at old work. You remember the nerves, the shoot, the people… and sometimes the lines. 

And on the day, sometimes you remember the lines too. 🤞🏻

Every new job seems to send people back through the archive, and I always love hearing where someone first saw me.

Was it RIVALS? DOWNTON? Or here?

🎥 RIVALS — BTS FILM TRIVIA

One of my favourite things about filming Rivals was seeing the DNA of old cinema running through it.

Our polo sequence echoed The Magnificent Seven.

The shotgun walk was directly inspired by Sam Peckinpah’s The Wild Bunch. 

Our fearless director Elliot Hegarty showed us footage of both before we filmed. LEGEND 🔥

Music was blasting on set too — very Sergio Leone.

I love those moments in screen work.

How one piece of art inspires another, decades later.

Among the perks of filming last year was meeting this collection of cats.

Some belonged to RIVALS. Some belonged to a project I'm still not allowed to talk about.

All of them were professional but slept on the job. 

I'm not familiar with the last breed - Scottish Fold maybe? 

Cat 3 is my cat before I'm accused of stealing Cat 1.

(Chess) RIVALS ✅ Check. During filming RIVALS S2, , Aidan Turner and I played A LOT of chess. 

We'd play all day, leaving the boards only for takes. At wrap, we'd take a photo and continue the next shoot day. 🎬

We all started out pretty rusty but by the end of the 10 month shoot we were fundamentally much better thanks to the app ♟️

If we weren't on set we'd play games against each other on the chess.com app and analyse our games. 

10 months filming and the last month we started using a timer and that was INTENSE. Good god. 🤦🏻

About last night - RIVALS Premiere & AFTER PARTY assorted pics!

The goody bag gave us on our big red bonk buster bus ride to the premiere was THE. BEST. (See photo)

Also, TONY HADLEY sang GOLD before the screening 🪙

A great night! RIVALS season 2 opens on streaming tomorrow with 3 EPSODES.
