Looking forward to heading to Hoxton tomorrow for the opening of the Well Hung Painting Prize Thurs 9th July, 6-9pm. Delighted ‘Tonic of Wild’ made the shortlist.

Selected from almost 1,000 submissions, 43 artists have been shortlisted for the exhibition. Bringing together works spanning abstraction, figuration and everything in between, the exhibition offers a snapshot of the breadth and quality of painting currently being produced across the UK.

Varied in subject matter, scale and technique, the selected works share a strong sense of individual vision and demonstrate the continuing vitality of painting as a medium.

Benefiting

A Day in May invited artists to record the experience of being alone in nature for a single day. Whether working spontaneously on site or later in the studio, A Day in May seeks to demonstrate a shared concern for the environment, expressed through the quiet, collective gesture of many artists

Coinciding with the 250th anniversary of Constable and Turner, the exhibition acknowledges the tradition of landscape painting while keenly encouraging contemporary responses, highlighting the enduring relevance of landscape art and the huge role artists can play in fostering environmental awareness and responsibility

Great Ormond Street Hospital has played a huge part in our lives as our son, Otto, underwent several open-heart surgeries as a baby & toddler. With regular check-ups, scans, exercise tests and MRI’s over the years the hospital becomes part of you.

It has been an absolute pleasure to return to the hospital, this time to facilitate inspirational monoprint workshops for GOSH Arts Culture Club Programme for NHS staff. Thanks to the team for making it all possible and to for funding the project. Thank you, to for being a wonderful assistant, helping with logistics and the smooth running of each workshop!

‘An intuitive, experimental approach to colour and mark-making in a relaxed environment. The perfect tonic for creative play to nurture health and wellbeing’.

It has been humbling to teach the sessions in the calm atmosphere of the rooftop room and provide creative relaxation time for staff to switch off and enjoy. Thanks to all the staff who signed up for the workshops, it has been a joy to hear all the positive feedback

“Such an amazing workshop! This was so great to de-stress and have the opportunity to try something new. Would love to see them back, thanks so much” - GOSH staff participant

The life changing treatment of seriously ill children and the care and compassion of the staff at GOSH are second to none. We will remain forever grateful to all of the staff who worked so diligently to provide treatment and care. Now under the supervision of Adults Congenital Heart Centre, Barts, Otto is a thriving adult soon to be 25 yr old.
