For the last 2 years, I haven't painted AT ALL, and it was painful 💔.

This painting is a present for my working colleague, for his 60th birthday. So I've thought, what a better present should I give him if not something like this - are painting. I've got some inspiration from the Indian folk art that I have used for the background.

I was scared that after two years, I've lost EVERYTHING, it was scary, and with this new medium - gouache, adding more pressure.

He loves the painting, and this makes me HAPPY!

Gouache on watercolour paper. This is my very 1st time when I've painted with this medium. It has certainly been more difficult than I've expected...or better said I didn't know what to expect 🙃

I have realised that it changes hue and value when drying, and the saturation too. BUT I LOVE it's opacity and the matte finish.

This painting it is a present for one of my work colleagues. And I believe it has turned out good considering that it's my 1st try painting with gouache.

On my recent trip to Japan, I visited the Emperor's gardens in Tokyo and the museum. It was fulfilling to be there and to see so up close these original artworks! I have always loved how delicate their paintings are, this style, that is so simplistic, flowy, and unique.
"Snow, Moon and Flowers" - Uemora Shoen, 1937, colou on silk.
Snow, Moon and Flowers - it's a thematic combination said to encapsulate the most beautiful features of the four seasons: snow in winter, the moon in autumn, and cherry blossom in spring. These paintings depict the elegant court culture of the Heian period, period (794 - 1185), while expressing love and appreciation.
