The Croque Madame has been a French lunchtime institution for a reason. Ours is made in-house with Comté sourced from La Fromagerie, because the cheese really does make the difference! 🧀

At The Well Walk Café, traditional French cuisine is at the heart of everything we do. Every morning, our chef Gaëtan prepares everything fresh, from quiches and croques to madeleines, chouquettes, cannelés and homemade tarts. Comme à la maison! 🇫🇷

The stage is set. The props are ready. And Petit Pierre? He’s nearly here! 🎭

Petit Pierre from Paris is a charming hand-puppet show in the French guignol tradition, full of mischief, magic and laughs. Created and performed by Zina Drouche, it’s the kind of show where anything can happen… and usually does ✨

Every weekend from this Saturday until 12th July.
Shows at 11am & 3pm, ages 3+ 🥖🇫🇷

It was a truly wonderful event filled with lively discussion, an engaging reading and talk session, thoughtful audience interactions, and a fantastic book signing.

We were thrilled to welcome Michael for a special afternoon of storytelling, as he read from two of his beloved books, answered audience questions, and spent time signing books afterwards.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event so warm, engaging, and memorable. It was a joy to share stories together.

📚 Stories on Stage — Sat 6th & Sun 7th June
Our inaugural children’s book weekend. Mornings with Petit Pierre and Gédéon bringing stories to life on stage, afternoons with Michael Rosen (Saturday) and Anna James (Sunday) for readings, Q&As, book signings and bakery treats in our Café and Bookshop.

👑 Petit Pierre from Paris — every Sat & Sun from 13th to 12th July, 11am & 3pm
A charming hand-puppet show the whole family will love.

🪁 The Kite Festival — Sun 28 June, 12–4pm
Parliament Hill Fields! A spectacular kite display by The Kite Society of Great Britain, plus kite making and children’s activities. Free to attend.

Behind the magic 🎭✨

Before the chaos of the dining room, there’s the chaos backstage.
The costumes that need to be just right. The props that have a life of their own. The quiet focus before the lights go up and then the moment Zina and Marina step into their world and everything clicks into place.

No words on stage. A lot of words off it.
