“There was no rule book.”

When 38 planes were diverted to Gander following the closure of US airspace on 9/11, Dave Dillon played a vital role for the Red Cross, helping thousands of stranded passengers.

Despite years of training and experience, nothing could prepare him for what came next.

As Dave explained to co-directors Ros and Suriyah, and cast member Debs (our Beverley), much of his response had to be built in real time — training volunteers, solving problems on the fly, and supporting thousands of people through an unimaginable situation.

Dave’s personal story isn’t reflected in Come From Away, but it’s one that makes what happened in Gander all the more remarkable.

Just five weeks until we open. Grab your tickets today to relive this extraordinary moment in time.

When Nick & Diane met Nick & Diane! 🤝

One of the best parts of creating Come From Away has been meeting the real people behind the story.

Here, cast members Rob and Tracy meet Nick and Diane Marson — the couple they portray in our production.

We can confirm: the humour, affection, and chemistry audiences see in Come From Away are absolutely real. We loved catching up with them both, and as you can see, there were plenty of laughs along the way!

Come and meet them this July.

“No, I wouldn’t have.”

That’s what one stranded passenger said to Brian W as he prepared to leave Gander after five days post-9/11.

Brian had just told him, “You’d have done the same thing.”

But would we?

In our conversations with people who lived the true story of Come From Away first-hand, one theme emerges again and again: the people of Gander don’t see what they did as extraordinary. They simply did what came naturally to them.

For the rest of us, that’s what makes the story so remarkable.

“Nobody said I’m more important. Nobody.”

On September 11th, 2001, Brian W was working at Gander’s Aviation Museum when everything changed.

Within hours, plane after plane was landing in Gander. Overnight, the town’s population had almost doubled.

As part of our journey creating Come From Away, we’ve been speaking to people who lived this story first-hand.

Brian’s reflections capture the spirit of the Ganderites — an entire community coming together to help complete strangers in a time of crisis, no questions asked.

Unpacking the Gander accent! 🇨🇦

We’ve teamed up with the brilliant .a.lauf to shed some light on the foundations and nuances of Newfoundland dialect. Drilling the basics through repetition and movement exercises, our cast are sounding well and truly Canadian and having a blast in the process.

Just one of the many ways we’re placing authenticity at the heart of this show 💙💛
