The Pride of Dayton Marching Band are playing a London Sendoff Concert tonight on campus at the University of Dayton College of Arts and Sciences. They'll be performing an exclusive selection of music chosen especially for their trip to London.

The London Tattoo - Doe Den Tap Toe! will honour the 60th anniversary of the first multi crewed mission into space, Gemini III of Project Gemini, when NASA astronauts Gus Grissom and John Young flew three low earth orbits in their spacecraft, nicknamed "Molly Brown".

London Band Week's Musical Director, Ivan Hutchinson, has arranged a spectacular massed bands finale for over 700 musicians which pays tribute to the NASA program. In addition, we are thrilled to announce that our special effects engineers and health and safety officers have been able to get sign off for a state of the art audience immersion experience for the finale. In collaboration with CERN and the ESA - European Space Agency (other agencies are available), the ExCeL London auditorium will utilise a zero gravity machine during the tattoo's finale. For those not wishing to take part, each seat will be fitted with a lap belt, and for any cautious audience members, a tether of cord 25m in length will be available for controlled flight.

For the 700 tattoo cast, each musician will be fed a Subway footlong meatball sub (with cheese) which the London Band Week chef has advised should provide an in flight stabilising gravity point to avoid disorientating spins, ensuring the massed bands stay in formation.

Ivan (pictured) successfully trialled the equipment that has been hired specifically for the Tattoo Musical Director. The initial confusion on battery charge time was resolved quickly.

Because of the proximity of London City Airport we have to keep the windows in the auditorium closed and all musicians have been told to deploy chinstraps. Other than that we are good to go, go for flight!
