MEET THE TEAM: Jay Jay Revlon

Ballroom/Vogue Artist, Performer and Dancer

Born and raised in Peckham, South London, Jay Jay has many hats. His focus is curating events, DJing, Ballroom (voguing) and mentoring. Listed as Time Out’s ‘One to Watch’, Jay Jay is a committed community activist and dedicated to creating safe spaces and conversations for QPOC and LGBTQ+.

He does this through his own club night ‘Let’s Have a Kiki ’ and as a volunteer peer to peer mentor at Stonewall Housing. Throughout his career, his events have raised money for many charity organisations with whom he continues to work and support.

Jay Jay has been an early and devoted influence on the London Ballroom scene for the past five years and has been instrumental in defining how Ballroom in the UK is run. As Father of the ‘UK House of Revlon’ and founder of the ‘Kiki House of Tea’, Jay Jay is a leading authority of Ballroom in the UK.

From leading workshops at Tate Britain and SouthBank Centre, to bringing his inclusive flare to The Marlborough for Brighton Pride, he is a frequent collaborator with LGBTQ+ artists such as Honey Dijon and Years & Years. Jay Jay’s love for dance, voguing and DJing has taken him around the UK and Europe as a major force in the dance and music world.

A hugely in demand DJ, Jay Jay’s talent behind the decks has seen him play up and down the UK, on the festival circuit and internationally, bringing his signature mix of House, Afro House, Classics and Ballroom beats. As well as having his own BoilerRoom Set, his credits include playing for Rinse FM, Fabric, The Royal Academy, National Portrait Gallery, Bussey Building, as well as playing for brands such as Levi’s, G-Star, JW Anderson’s LFW Afterparty and many more.

Creative Associate

Becky is a theatre maker & BSL/English interpreter (Becky Allen RSLI). She is passionate about accessibility, representation and liberation - onstage and off. She has worked extensively across the UK and abroad, including collaborations with Shakespeare’s Globe, The RSC and Derby Theatre. She was also delighted to mentor two members of Graeae's Ensemble.

Previous credits include:

Treasure Island (Derby Theatre), Macbeth (Shakespeare's Globe), The Iron Man (Graeae Theatre Company) Becky is a BSL-English Interpreter.

Writer & Spoken Word Artist

Broken Pen (Abz) is a spoken word artist and musician who performs across London and the UK. He is also the Youth Support Worker for the incredible 4Front Project who empower young people to fight for justice, peace and freedom.

Abz was part of The Paradise Bar R&D 1 as a writer/poet.

BSL Consultant & Narrator

Donna is an actress who has worked with both Deaf and Integrated mainstream theatre companies.

Her Deafinitely Theatre work includes:

Something Else (UK tour), Love Labour’s Lost (Shakespeare’s Globe), Children of the Greater God (Jackson’s Lane Theatre) and Va**na Monologues (Cochrane Theatre).

MEET THE TEAM: SOWETO KINCH

Music Collaborator & Composer

Award-winning alto-saxophonist and MC Soweto Kinch is one of the most exciting and versatile musicians in both the British jazz and hip-hop scenes. Undoubtedly, one of the few artists in either genre with a degree in Modern History from Oxford University he has amassed an impressive list of accolades and awards – including a Mercury Music Prize nomination, two UMA Awards and a MOBO for best Jazz Act before being honoured with second MOBO Award in the Best Jazz Act category- fending off stiff competition from the likes of Wynton Marsalis.

Kevan is a videographer, photographer and content creator with roots in the film and television industry stemming from a career as a production rigger and automation specialist. Building on a 20 year career in the film and television industry, Kevan supplemented foundational experience in lighting and sound recording through his studies at London Film Academy.

Working primarily on commercial projects, Kevan started his own video production company in 2018 creating photo and video content for international brands and businesses across western Europe.

Kevan has worked on projects for Tesla, Mars Incorporated, X Factor, Tik Tok, Sky, Siemens and other recognisable brands.

Former dancer, performer and community arts tutor and choreographer, Talita is now an established Producer and creative having been in the game over 20 years. Supporting many artists, particularly in their first steps to one-person shows, collaborations, venue partnerships, funding bids and tours. Talita is now returning to the studio to facilitate and Direct her concept piece The Paradise Bar, a new production bringing together a wealth of experience, an amazing team of creative collaborators and of course a bespoke engagement programme for young people.
