Ask yourself these questions to find out if your Acting Class is right for you 👇
1) Is the work actually improving? 📈
When you see people put up work and receive feedback then go again, does that work actually get better?
Being in class is great but if you’re not seeing real growth in yourself and your class mates, it’s likely something is off.
2) Are you getting enough time to work? ⏰
A problem with a lot of classes out there is that they are over subscribed. Paying good money to work for 10 minutes every week is not a good return on investment in our opinion.
At Acting Practice we keep class sizes strictly limited to ensure everyone gets time to work. It’s not rare to see people on stage for almost an hour sometimes.
We sweat the detail and make sure everyone leaves having improved.
3) Are you leaving clearer or more confused? 🤔
A lot of classes sadly are use over complicated methods and out dated acting jargon.
The purpose of a class should be to de mystify acting technique - simple to understand, easy to apply.
If you’re leaving every class scratching your head, it’s possible your teacher doesn’t fully understand what they’re teaching you themselves.
4) Is the there a positive culture? 🌱
Positive doesn’t mean blowing smoke up each other’s arses. Class mates should push each other. But there should also be a culture of support. Do actors help each other run lines? Are they reading in for each other? Do you feel like you’re in a community or like you’re competing with everyone else?
