What does a soul remember?

Based on a true story, XQUENDA follows an Indigenous woman from rural Oaxaca, Mexico, as she fights for justice after the disappearance and murder of her best friend, confronting social inequality, marginalisation and a system built to silence her.

⭐️Songs of Freedom: STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN⭐️

TODAY at at 6PM at the The Bread & Roses Theatre as part of the The Lambeth Fringe 🎭

This is the story of a perfect woman. Her whole life, she just followed the instructions society – and her mum – dictated to help her achieve a happy and successful life. "A perfect life."

But... was it perfect?

Away from her dreams and what she could have become if she'd had the chance to take decisions on her own, she's now recounting her story (while she can remember it), alone with the shadows of her past, and listening to a song she listened to in the radio a long time ago, and that helped her to endure the pass of her life...

Is it too late to change the ending of someone’s story?

"I was left alone. My sister, my bizaana, is my lost, and many women and men in our pueblo over time have disappeared.
They say it's because we don't matter..."

🌼🎭🐆

The story of a young indigenous woman from rural Oaxaca, Mexico, and her search for justice after the disappearance and murder of her best friend.

Her protest is through her poems.

Her weapon is her words.

Through letters written while she's protesting, we get to know her life, her traditions and culture, and her love, the magic, and connection with the world that surrounds her.

"Live music, ancestry, murder, myth, the fight against the unacceptable, and contemporary Mexican politics"
