OUR FINAL CONCERT

As we approach the end of an era at St John’s, join us for our final concert on Saturday the 13th of July at 7pm. This will be the very last time the St John’s Schola Cantorum as it stands, will be performing.

So please do come and support us, and BRING EVERYONE!

The evening will include a wonderful mix of solos, duets, small ensembles and of course, full choir repertoire!

Introducing our newest member…

MOSES TORTO
Tenor

Moses Torto is a classical tenor currently studying classical singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama after attaining a degree in Environmental Science in 2021.

Moses has always been a lover of choral and church music long before he found his love for classical solo singing. He found his passion for music when he was 14 years old and has gone on to perform with several choirs back home in his country Ghana. Notable choirs like Harmonious Chorale Ghana and others. He has participated in many musical festivals and competitions in Africa and Europe with his resident choir, Harmonious Chorale.

MARIA KOLPAKTCHI
Mezzo Soprano Scholar

Maria Kolpaktchi is a British-Ukrainian Mezzo-Soprano. Based in London she is a multi-instrumentalist performer and educator.
A First-Class graduate from The University of Manchester, Maria studied voice, piano and orchestral conducting. Vocally, her background lies in Ukrainian folk, opera and choral music and she has performed in prestigious venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Glyndebourne and The English National Opera. Alongside music, Maria is the founder of Moroz Collective and organises events and fundraisers, often geared towards Ukrainian humanitarian aid.

ANGUS ARMSTRONG
Tenor Scholar

Angus Armstrong is a tenor currently working towards an MSc in Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology at Imperial College London.

Choral music has been a central part of his life for quite some time. Angus began singing aged 9 as a Quirister with Wi******er College Chapel Choir and has continued singing ever since, more recently as a member of Durham University Chamber Choir as well as in a variety of other college choirs and consorts in and around Durham. He is also a member of the vocal group The Phoenix Consort, which were recently ranked 3rd in both the secular and sacred vocal group branches of the Tolosa International Choral Contest, in Spain.

Angus looks to continue singing as much as possible alongside his academic studies and is really looking forward to the coming year with Schola Cantorum.
