POLBEN’s Pigment | Artist Collab

The next talented artist from my collaboration is painter and printmaker Grace Green 🟢 ♦️

Grace Grace Green experimented with her pigments by mulling them to different grades, and mixing them into various paint binders, including linseed oil and gum arabic.

With her recognisable symbols and motifs she produced colourful and bold works on paper and canvas.

It was cooler today so I sat in the garden with the pups levigating Yellow London Stock Brick. This is the process used to remove impurities from minerals.

I used to collect this brick on the Thames foreshore in London - I now collect it at the Thames estuary in the Isle of Sheppey in Kent.

Forgot to say… the water in your dishes will end up with a film on the surface - this is the impurities you are trying to remove :) Tip this water out slowly to leave your purified pigment at the bottom of the dish to dry.

POLBEN’s Pigment | Artist Collab

The third artist I chose to collaborate with by gifting my pigments in return for feedback on their usage is multidisciplinary artist Kerrie Hanna.

In her distinctive style, Kerrie Kerrie Hanna , created a series of watercolour paintings. She wrote she wanted to visually narrate the pigment’s connection to the land, which resulted in little Aos Sí land protectors or fairy folk emerging 🧚‍♀️

I inherently feel the land in these paintings as Kerrie has utilised the granular and pigment particle quality of the pigments so well.
