Zest Dance Workshops

08/10/2026

It was a South American themed day at St Ives School in Haslemere, and Zest brought the carnival spirit along. We were booked to teach some Samba and Salsa dance workshops for their KS1 & KS2 students!

To enrich the dance workshops further, we brought in lots of props to show at the start of each workshop.

- Brazil flag
- Feathered headdresses
- Carnival masks
- Pictures of the Rio Carnival

The year 6's had the longest workshop and got a fantastic routine learnt. Adding in their own choreographic moves, we were so impressed by their final dance routine.

For dance workshops to fit any theme or topic - get in touch.

We are based in London but have a fantastic team of dance teachers around the UK.

Harris Academy in Greenwich had us in for year 7 workshops to link to their Spanish languages unit. What a great school it was!

It was so refreshing to meet the bright, interested students who eagerly threw themselves into our Spanish dance workshops.

We taught a mix of Salsa, Flamenco and Paso Doble dance in hour long workshops for 5 classes. We started with sharing lots of cultural info on Spain and showing props and costumes at the start. Their end dances looked great!

With the National Day of Spain coming up on the 12th of Oct - why not book in a dance workshop for your school or group?

These are great for KS1, KS2 and KS3 students, and a good way to promote teamwork and getting to know each other in a fun, relaxed environment.

Great morning at EIFA International School in Central London.

We taught a morning of Bollywood dance for their International Week, to KS1, KS2 and KS3 classes. We dressed the students in the Indian scarves we provide, show them props and then teach loads of Bollywood and Bhangra dance moves!

We loved the world map they had made, showing the different countries that the students at the school are from.

These themed days are so important to celebrate and learn about different cultures from around the world.

We run dance workshops in all cultural styles, to all ages and abilities. Get in touch to see what we can bring to your school or group.

Snail and the Whale - dance workshops!

We had a lovely morning at St Mark's School in Hanwell, London, teaching their two reception classes. Their theme was 'under the sea' and so we created a dance based on a book they had been reading called The Snail and the Whale' by Julia Donaldson (a well loved classic).

We started with some creative movement games based on the props we had bought in. The children loved moving in different ways depending on which sea creature they had.

Next we taught our Snail and the Whale dance, following the themes and story that is told in the book.

We used a great song, sang by Julia Donaldson narrating the book which went perfectly with the dance routine.

A great time was had by the children and one teacher said she wanted them to perform it in an assembly coming up - so that would be a lovely addition for the parents to enjoy watching too!

At Zest we teach creative and cultural dance workshops to fit all themes and topics, for all ages and abilities. Get in touch to see what we can do for your school or setting.

Our 'animals' themed dance workshops were WILD at Meadow Primary School in Epsom.

The school wanted us to cover a range of animals - birds, mammals, amphibians, fish and insects. It was quite a lot to cover in one dance, but we got there! The workshops were for three year 1 classes, and they loved it.

We were inspired by some incredible animal masks shown at the Royal Opera House, used in the ballet Alcina. See the pics.

Our dance teacher had to get involved and dress up for the workshops as a leapord (of course).

The animals we included in our dance were:
Parrot, Gorilla, Dolphin, Frog and a Caterpillar into a butterfly for the finale!
