Lovely evening last night with the Jazz Svengali of the South Coast Neal Richardson! Full room of appreciative jazz fans and a smashing trio to play with too. Turns out Sue, Neals wife, is six days away from getting her doctorate!! Congratulations to her on that, a hell of an achievement. Here she is joining me on trumpet!

Coming up fast! The superb talents of Steve Vintner on Vibraphone! Steve’s worked with just about everyone both on tuned percussion and drums. He’ll be accompanied on the 2nd of February by our fabulous house rhythm section and hopefully co host Ned Bennett. Please feel free to share this post, let’s get a really good crowd in for this fabulous artist

Well folks, our first East Dulwich Tavern Jazz Club gig is ON!! January the fifth. Doors at 7.30, music from 8.30pm. Tickets from Design My Night or on the door. Allison Neale plays a beautiful "cool school" alto saxophone and is appearing with our sensational house trio of Steve Watts, Mike Pickering and Neil Casey. Jam session in the second half. Good players who fancy a blow are welcome to bring there horns and sit in!! No Wayne Shorter tunes please!! See you there!!

So folks, I hope your xmas plans are coming together nicely and I hope you've had the chance to enjoy some live music over this last month!! Our next presentation at the East Dulwich Tavern is set to be January the 5th with the wonderful Allison Neale. Now, with the possibility of covid causing a lockdown soon, we wanted to reassure that anyone who has bought tickets for this gig already can use them for our February presentation should we not be able to put our January gig on. February 2nd is the date with Steve Vintner on vibraphone, a fabulous musician. Have a lovely Xmas everyone and stay safe!! We look forward to seeing you down in East Dulwich real soon. Jeff and Ned

And so Onward and Upward!! There will be no Jazz at the East Dulwich Tavern in the month of December but we will be back with avengence on Wednesday January 5th with the Uber talented Allison Neale with backing from our breathtakingly talented house trio of Steve Watts, Mike Pickering and Neil Casey! The second set will be in the form of a jam with, hopefully, some wonderful players. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone who has supported us in the short time we have been up and running, we really appreciate everyone coming down, keeping jazz alive and creating a well deserved live music scene in East Dulwich.

What a fabulous night last night was at the East Dulwich Tavern! Nigel Price was a wonderful guest and Ned Bennett, my cohort, ran the session beautifully. We had over 80 people in the audience, many of whom I managed to talk to....and a delightful bunch they were too!! The standard of musicianship for the jam was very high and it was great to see so many friends supporting the club! Thanks in particular to Horace Cardew, Roger Humbles, Nick Etwell and David Liddell for their fabulous support. Here are a few photo's from the night taken from my phone plus a short video. You can see what a great vibe there isin the room! If you haven't been yet, do come down, you'd be REALLY welcome. If you are a blower or a rhythm player bring your ho**er and come and sit in!!

Well, we are a week away from our next Jazz Club Night at the EDT (East Dulwich Tavern) Tickets are selling well through the ticket portal "Design My Night" and don't forget they can be bought at the door too. Not only is the music going to be amazing but this is a great place to come down and eat, drink, hang and enjoy some of the best musicians in the Capital! This week coming we have Nigel Price on guitar. His new album, Wes Reimagined https://londonjazznews.com/2021/05/17/nigel-price-organ-trio-wes-reimagined/ has had incredible reviews across the jazz community. Then in the second set we open the floor to musicians wanting to jam. The standard has been very high and I'm sure the same will go for this week too!

Nigel Price Organ Trio – Wes Reimagined (Ubuntu Music UBU0080. Album review by Denny Ilett) There’s a very good reason why the music of Wes Montgomery continues to inspire guitarists some 53 …
