âĄď¸WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?
We have somehow gotten ourselves a beautiful two floor Gallery Space in Mayfair on the prolific Maddox Street, home to some of the greatest art galleries and we have it for two months. So in true [state] fashion, we would like to support artists with a space to exhibit/ or sell their work and products, or maybe use the space as a pop-up store. We are open to anything and everything from visual art to ceramics, jewelry, garments, poetry, books, photography, sound installations, band performances, film screenings, mini-restaurant...etc (you get the gist).
âĄď¸HOW WILL THIS WORK?
From the submissions we will create some sort of rota as we are looking to give each artist the space for either a few days, a week or even a whole month. For those that want to run workshops or performances it could be a night/ a morning/ ... we are just very open to these conversations and negotiations, whatever works for you and can work for us.
âĄď¸IMPORTANT
The turnaround is mad! This store has to open around November 1st/2nd due to requirements so the deadline for submissions is not a joke. We will be in touch on Wednesday and we will chat about options, how this will work further and what everyone needs.
âĄď¸TRANSPARENCY
state of the [art] is not some rich man's son, pleaaaase - we have no money, we are doing this for free, there is no money at all, just pure vibes and stress. Some events may be ticketed and there have been conversations around taking some sort of commision from sales of any products/art pieces. Once artist have been selected, we will have further discussions on how any profit will be split, as the landlord has asked that if we do make money, we give a split to them as well. We are doing this so that underrepresented/ marginalised artists can have the space and opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in one of the most lucrative areas in London with a host of new, diverse and international customers/audiences, during a time of crisis and struggle.
