There’s something incredibly special about South Africans.

No matter how far from home we may be, when we come together, something happens. The accents get louder, the flags go up, strangers become friends, and for a little while… home doesn’t feel quite so far away. 💚💛

To every single person who came through the gates of the first Lekker in London — thank you.

Thank you for singing.
Thank you for dancing.
Thank you for wearing your green and gold with pride.
Thank you for bringing your families, your friends and your gees.
And most of all, thank you for believing in what we are trying to build.

We started Lekker in London because we wanted to create a little piece of South Africa right here in the UK. A place where we could celebrate our music, our food, our humour, our culture and that unmistakable South African spirit.

And you showed us just how powerful that can be.

This was only the beginning.

We've listened. We've learned. We've dreamed even bigger.

And we can officially tell you…

Bigger. Better. More lekker.

Saffas in London, we did it! 🇿🇦

We packed 4,500 people into Cheam Park for the very first LEKKER IN LONDON!

We sang the anthem together, twice. We watched the Bokke win and lost our minds 🏉 We rapped along and brushed up on our Afrikaans at Biggy's first ever London show (and his first ever visit to London). We danced our hearts out while Majozi, Prime Circle and GoodLuck owned the stage. We laughed out loud at Kevin Fraser and Cokey Falkow. We squeaked a tekkie to Luke Warm on the decks, ate our body weight in South Africa's best food, and shopped till there was nothing left to buy. And through all of it, we felt the GEES.

And while it sounds like the most perfect day, London did try to test us with some rain (umm, why), and the queues ran longer than we'd have liked. But none of that came close to touching the magic we built together, and it's only going to get bigger and better from here.

So thank you, fellow Saffas across the UK, and to everyone who flew in from home and elsewhere to be part of this.

We left South Africa, but South Africa never left us.

Together, we'll keep the spirit of Mzansi alive 🇿🇦🇬🇧🫶🏽
