This is a unique opportunity in Wales! We will dance and talk culture/language, and learn routines/choreography.

Weekly class now on every Tuesdays 6-7:15 pm, in Kings Road Yard. £8 the class, or £65 the quarter from next week, April to June. No need to book, payment in class.

And look at these gorgeous women, I mean... each one of them having something special about their look, their smile, their face. I.love.it.

I really like this picture, and not just because it has 2 wonderful persons on it ( and .gutierrez_ ) but also as it represents some of the true values I stand by: support, compassion, gratitude.

It is sometimes unavoidable to have tensions and gossips in dance groups. With large communities come social challenges. And I didn’t like it about dance communities. It would make things complicated for stupid reasons.

We are so lucky that, so far (🤞🏽🤞🏽) we haven’t had such tensions in our group. All of us, resourceful women, are patient, open-minded and laid back when it comes to Tahitian dance!

Now, it can’t all be perfect, of course there can frustration, disagreement BUT! we don’t hold a grudge against each other, we don’t dwell on it, we don’t act according to these negative emotions. We acknowledge that we don’t all have the same energy, we don’t have the same viewpoints.

I’d like to create such a positive community in Cardiff too!

Okay - it's the week of announcements.

When I moved out of London 2.5 years ago, I changed the name of my page and my classes from 'Ori London to 'Ori Ātea. But my logo was still the old one, referring to London. I've finally changed it.

It is simple, it is humble. I've drawn it myself. My boyfriend thinks the right arm looks like a big b**b, haha. I wanted it to be simple - but I welcome anyone who would have drawing skill and want to trial a different version! :)

About the name:
'Ori means dance. Ātea can mean 3 things, according to the online dictionnary Fare Vana'a: adj. Clear, hurdle-free; adj. Distant, far; n. Godess
This group, whether I teach online or face-to-face, is a reminder of how far I am from my home country and how easy things become when I start dancing and teaching. It also refer to how close this dance brings us together whilst coming from so far away, in space (for Europe) and in time. It's also a testimony to women and their power.
