🌾🎃 LOCHRANZA & CATACOL SCARECROW COMPETITION! 🎃🌾
Calling all residents of Lochranza and Catacol! 📣
It’s time to get creative, get building and bring our villages to life with a fantastic Scarecrow Competition! 🧑‍🌾👻
We’re looking for scarecrows of all shapes, sizes and personalities. Make them funny, spooky, clever, traditional — or completely bonkers! 🤪
You can build one on your own, get the family involved, team up with neighbours, or challenge your friends. Use your imagination and whatever materials you can find. ♻️🔨🧵
The idea is simple: let’s fill Lochranza and Catacol with scarecrows and create something fun for everyone to enjoy!
🏆 There will be prizes and, of course, the all-important bragging rights!
So… what will your scarecrow be? A Highland character? A famous face? A local legend? Something scary? Or something that will have the whole village laughing?
🌾 Start collecting your old clothes, hats, boots, straw and bits and pieces now!
Let’s see just how creative Lochranza & Catacol can be! ❤️

Here’s a look at what’s happening at the hall this September. It may be a slightly quieter month, but there’s still plenty to enjoy and get involved in!
On 18th September, the Friday coffee morning group will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning, complete with freshly made bacon and egg rolls.
If you haven’t yet tried one of Pat and John’s keep-fit sessions, come along and give it a go - it’s a great way to get moving and certainly gets the blood pumping! Friday pickleball is another fun way to stay active.
Table Tennis resumes on 14th September and our regular Eco Savvy Food Share evenings and lunch continue throughout the month.
There’s plenty to keep us connected and busy as we head into autumn. We look forward to seeing you at the hall!

A reminder that Lochranza & Catacol Village Hall is currently one of the Co-op's Local Community Fund causes.

Help us bring film nights back to the hall! The more Co-op members who support us, the more funding we'll receive towards buying the equipment we need.

With just under 10 weeks until the fund closes on Saturday 17 October, we want as many people as possible to choose us!

Gala day is here! 2-4pm this afternoon! Don’t let this mornings weather put you off our sources tell us it will be dry by lunchtime so we will be all set for some fun at the hall! Come along and join us in the hall, lots of great raffle prizes kindly donated by local businesses. Huge tombola and lots of other stalls.

Come and join us Saturday 25thJuly 2-4 at the village hall for our annual gala day.

We have the pipe band playing at 2pm, kids races, dog show, COAST will be joining us with a stall along with the COOP. BBQ, tearoom, raffle and Bingo to round off the afternoon

Huge thanks to everyone who came along to last night’s ceilidh at the hall — we’re so grateful you made the effort to be there. The Sensational Jimi Shandrix Band were fantastic, and it was brilliant to see the dance floor full all evening. A big thank you as well to the band for making the journey from Edinburgh - we'd love to have you back!

A special thank you to our hall committee for all their work organising the event, and to the amazing volunteers who helped on the night and donated baking — your support made it all possible.

Our next summer ceilidh is on Saturday 1 August with the Argyll Ceilidh Trail — always a great night — so please come along and bring your friends!

Last call for a great night out in Lochranza!

Join us at the hall tonight for a ceilidh with The Sensational Jimi Shandrix Experience — doors open at 7 pm. Expect lively Scottish country dance sets, a friendly caller, and plenty of smiles. All ages and abilities welcome — no partner or experience needed. Let's fill the floor and make it a night to remember!

A wee taster of Sandy Brechin & The Sensational Jimi Shandrix Experience who will be leading the ceilidh at the hall this Friday (17th July). Hopefully we won't need our coats and woolly bunnets!
