We are very excited to have these amazing Puppet Building Workshops at the Leisure Centre on the Weekend of the 13th & 14th of June!!!
These free workshops will be run by the talented artist and sculptor, Greg Dobson, one of the founding members of the Bridge Art Centre in Ullapool. Greg also enjoys creating some very big puppets as part of the Black Dog Puppet Company who create the giant puppets at Belladrum.
Participants are welcome to come along for either one or both days, whatever works for you. This is a fantastic opportunity to have a go at creating puppets yourself so why not come along and join in. (Suitable from age 14+)

😊 The sun is shining for the first of our Wednesday Afternoon Wellbeing walks in Culag Woods today.
Today is all about focusing on becoming more aware of our senses and being in the present moment.
If you could do with recharging your energy levels and dropping your stress levels, why not come along.
🌿 The walk is from 2.00pm to 3.30pm, leaving from the Leisure Centre, which includes time for a cuppa back at the Leisure centre at the end of the walk. ☕

🌿😊 If anyone is feeling a bit low on energy, a bit flat, a bit overwhelmed by lots of negative news, then why not join me tomorrow on the first of my Wednesday afternoon Wellbeing walks in Culag Woods.
Tomorrow's walk is all about focusing on our senses and trying to become more tuned into the present.
We will be leaving from the Leisure centre at 2.00pm.
It might be quite warm so bringing a water bottle along would be a good idea. 😊💡

We are very pleased to be able to tell you that the Photography group is going to be starting to meet up again at the Assynt Leisure Centre, starting on Monday 25th May at 7.00 pm.
The group will meet once a month on Monday evenings initially.
This is an informal group of people with a keen interest in photography who come together to share ideas and discuss techniques over a cuppa and a biscuit, as well as going out and about taking photos as a group when the weather allows.
We would love to see this group grow so if you can make it along, please come and join us.

Assynt Leisure would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the refreshments at this year’s Race to the Base

Thank you to all those who baked cakes, made sandwiches and soup, donated food, and helped serve refreshments throughout the day. It was fantastic to see so many people from across the community getting involved and supporting the Leisure Centre.

It was especially lovely to see community users, volunteers and local residents all pulling together, as well as so many people popping in on Sunday for refreshments and a catch up.

We are very pleased to say that Race to the Base brought in a total of £1,101.35 through facility hire, overnight campers taking part in the event, and refreshments sales.

Events like these are incredibly important to Assynt Leisure. With rising heating oil costs, increases to the National Real Living Wage, and continued rises in day-to-day running costs, fundraising events and community support play a huge part in helping keep the centre financially sustainable.

Without the support of volunteers, donations and community events like this, the centre would face real challenges financially. Every cup of tea served, every cake baked and every sandwich made genuinely makes a difference.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make the day such a success — your support for the Leisure Centre and wider community is hugely appreciated
