The Talking Tapestry of Langum

The Talking Tapestry of Langum The Talking Tapestry of Langum tells the story of Llangwm's Flemish heritage. The original drawings were done by local schoolchildren.

It's on display in St Jerome's medieval church, West Wales and is run by volunteers. The Talking Tapestry of Langum tells the intriguing story of the Flemish heritage of the village of Langwm in West Wales, Langum being one of the names the village was known by in medieval times. It's on display in St Jerome's medieval church on Llangwm village green. The tapestry was stitched by local women from

drawings made by local school children and is run by volunteers. If it's manned (or womanned!) when you visit we can tell you all about the project and the history, make you a cup of tea and show you our lovely merchandise based on the tapestry panels. Even when it's unmanned you can download an app telling you all about it (hence 'Talking' Tapestry). If you're a group of five or more and let us know you're coming ([email protected], 01437 899966 or message us) we'll turn out specially to welcome you. It's free to visit but the app costs £2.99.

St Jerome's church and the Talking Tapestry are closed except for events until Easter.
However if you'd like to see ithe tapestry (and maybe buy some of the merchandise) pop along to one of our Music at Lunchtime concerts, or the film club, and nip in to see the tapestry before or after.
All events can be found on the website, www.heritagellangwm.org.uk/tapestry, but to wet your appetite the next concert is Cwm Cerwyn Ensembles on January 14, and the next film club showing is the truly wonderful The Pink Panther on January 29.
The first concert, with La Volta on December 3 was a sell-out with latecomers having to stand at the back!
Or if you want to bring a group of friends along to see the tapestry when we're officially closed, email us on [email protected] and we'll open up especially for you.
