Statement from Tonnau Festival

Regarding Incident and Event Closure

Carreglwyd Estate — 11 July 2026

Everyone at Tonnau Festival is deeply saddened to confirm that a festival attendee tragically passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning following a severe medical emergency.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the attendee’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

From the moment the attendee became unwell, our on-site welfare teams, security, and emergency medical staff responded immediately.

Paramedics and welfare personnel did everything they could to provide emergency care, but unfortunately they later died in hospital.

The safety and well-being of our audience is always our highest priority. Following this tragedy, and to allow emergency services and local authorities to conduct their necessary work, we made the decision to close the remainder of the festival and have asked people to vacate the site when it is safe for them to do so. We are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all our attendees, staff and volunteers during this incredibly difficult situation. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will be making no further comment at this time.

Our thoughts and hearts are with the family.

Here's a few of the artists you can check out over the weekend in the Roots Garden!

WRONGTOM
Wrongtom is a record producer and dj from South London, now residing in the not-so-trendy reaches of the east end, he spends his days playing with tape echo and watching B-movies in his makeshift studio hidden away in a converted nunnery. Genre-crossing, reggae-rooted producer, he’s well known for his solo productions, DJ sets and collaborations including Roots Manuva, Hard Fi and Deemas J. Catch him 8-10pm on Friday night.

Simma.
Making his Tonnau Festival debut this July, joins us for a special Saturday evening session in the Walled Garden, showcasing the sounds of his and labels alongside special guest vocalists, powered by the heavyweight Red House Hi Fi.
Fresh from the release of his new album 'Where My Style Comes From' with , and following recent shows in Japan, Tenerife and Belgium, don't miss this rare UK festival appearance from the dub digitizer himself
Catch him 5:30 - 7PM on Saturday.

An Dannsa Dub ( Live DJ Set )
The project fuses the mystical energy and instruments of traditional Scottish music and Gaelic song with the heavy, meditative, driving basslines digital dub music. Born from a love of traditional Scottish folk, dub reggae and dance music, together they summon the joyous, communal energy of a cèilidh and a sound system session. Their name comes from the Gaelic for “The Dub Dance”. Their sound celebrates the ancient Gaelic and West African rhythms that influenced reggae, which in turn, via sound system culture and dub’s pioneering remixes, produced modern dance music. Their live shows and recordings are a seamless, pulsating fusion of all this and more. Come and check them out 4-6pm on Sunday!

We are looking forward to Mulembas D'Africa Afro-Weza Dance workshop on Saturday afternoon at 12pm on Llwyfan Bach! No need to book, just turn up!

Bringing Afro-Weza to Tonnau, Angelina's dance classes draw on her Angolan Bantu spiritual movement traditions and prioritises the primal power of movement for personal growth and social cohesion and integration. You are invited to Release the Energy, Expand the Soul and Embrace the Roots.

In addition to teaching, Angelina serves as an associate artist for local creative organisations, contributes to academic dialogues on migration, dance and identity and is one of 3 resident DJ/music selectors for DiaspoRIDDIM, an exciting project dedicated to promoting music created when borders are crossed and cultures are carried (catch them in the Kitchen Disco on Saturday night!)
