Three little Halloween designs, three proper working pens. 👻🎃🧙‍♀️

I think that’s what I like most about these — once you’ve finished the beadwork, you haven’t just made something decorative. You’ve made something you can actually use.

The pattern includes all three designs, each worked as a small Even Count Pe**te panel before being fitted onto our beadable pen inserts.

They’re also a lovely project if you fancy something fairly quick, or if you’re still quite new to pe**te and want a manageable project with a useful result at the end.

The difficult bit may simply be deciding which one gets to live on your desk first…

Well, that's what the gravestone says. Whether she's actually resting peacefully is another matter entirely! 😂

We've been rummaging through the ThreadABead archives and thought it was time to disturb poor May.

At first glance, it's a rather curious little beaded gravestone, but there's more to this one than meets the eye…

You see, May has a secret, and you'll have to be brave enough to investigate her resting place to discover it! 👀

We love designs like this, where the fun doesn't stop when you've finished beading. There's a tiny story to uncover, a surprise to discover and even somewhere to hide a little treasure of your own.

Just make sure you close everything up properly afterwards. We wouldn't want May wandering off. 👻❤️

What a lovely couple of days we're having at ThreadABead! 💕

We've had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the NI Beaders' Guild to our bead shop in Llandudno, and they're still here enjoying a Saturday morning of beading with us!

Lots of beads, plenty of chatter, cups of tea and laughter — just the way we like it! 🥰

One of the loveliest things about beading is how it brings people together, and seeing our shop filled with people sharing their love of beads is something rather special. ❤️

A huge thank you to all the lovely ladies for making our shop such a happy, lively place these past couple of days. We've absolutely loved having you here!

There’s rather more going on beneath that little green hood than you might notice at first glance. 🏮

The Little Lantern Keeper has a deep shimmering cloak edged in gold, tiny sleeves and hands, and of course his own little beaded lantern dangling from one hand.

We particularly love the way the green Delicas catch the light — depending on the angle, his cloak shifts through green, bronze and flashes of blue, which suits his slightly mysterious personality rather well.

He may look innocent enough… but we’re still not entirely sure where he goes once the lights are turned out. 👀

There are some days when we fancy starting a great big beading project… and some days when we just want the satisfaction of actually finishing something. 😂🧵

Today feels very much like the second kind.

So these little 3D Owl Earrings are getting another outing from the ThreadABead archives. 🦉

They’re tiny, quick to make and use just a handful of colours — perfect for an autumn evening when you want a bit of beading without accidentally beginning a project that takes over the dining table for the next fortnight.

And really, October is probably peak owl season anyway. 🍂

Step inside the Witches Apothecary… 🧙‍♀️✨

This is one of those designs where making the pieces is only half the fun.

Once you’ve got your potion bottles, spell books, cauldron, crystal ball, witch’s hat, skull, frog and mouse, the important decisions begin…

Does the suspicious green bottle go next to the spell books?
Should the frog really be that close to the cauldron?
And is the mouse part of the stock… or staff? 😂

You get to fill the shelves your way, moving everything around until your little apothecary feels just right.

Shelf by shelf, it turns into a tiny witchy world of your own — full of curiosities, secret ingredients and things that probably shouldn’t be opened without adult supervision. ✨

And that, for us, is the best bit: you’re not just making the pieces, you’re creating the whole place.

Pumpkin Buddy was never really meant to sit politely on a shelf. 🎃

He’s much happier tagging along somewhere — clipped onto a bag, keys or phone strap, with those long stripy legs and little crystal hands dangling away as he goes.

He’s only a tiny make, but that’s part of the appeal. He’s quick, cheerful, full of character and just the right size for a little handmade Halloween treat.

And because he’s available as a complete beginners kit, he’s also a lovely way to have a first go at pe**te stitch without committing to a huge project.

Small project. Big grin. Slightly ridiculous legs. Exactly as intended. 😄

Our new website is live! 💗

Six months ago, we decided it was time to give ThreadABead a website that felt more like us.

Our previous website had grown alongside the business, built in whatever spare time we could find—which was always in rather short supply! It wasn’t always easy to find your way around, and it didn’t give our designs, their little details and the worlds behind them the space to shine.

So we made some proper time for it. Time to think about how it looks, how it works, and how to bring everything we love about ThreadABead together.

David has done the coding, with Lynsey helping on design. There’s been a lot of work behind the scenes, including rather more complexity than you might expect from a website full of tiny beads! All with the aim of making it easier and more enjoyable for you to explore and find what you need.

We’re so pleased to open the doors and invite you in. Have a wander through our bead shop, collections, meet a few little characters, and see where your next beading adventure might take you. ✨

Over the next month, we’ll share some of our favourite features—but we hope you’ll have just as much fun discovering them for yourselves. We’ve plenty more plans to grow and improve it, too.

Brrnie is one of those designs that feels even cuter once you realise quite how little he is. ⛄❤️

He’s made at roughly the same scale as Arctic the Penguin, which makes him just right for popping amongst your Christmas decorations — and a lovely size for a handmade gift too.

He’s a proper traditional little snowman: carrot nose, twiggy arms, top hat, scarf and all. Nothing too fancy… just exactly the sort of snowman you’d hope to find waiting for you on Christmas morning.

Although unlike the real thing, he does cope rather better with central heating. 😄

Well… it’s October. Which means Wendabella can finally come out without anyone accusing her of being early. 🧙‍♀️😂

She’s one of our older ThreadABead characters, and still one of the sweetest little witches we’ve made — although apparently that depends entirely on whether you stay on her good side.

So if you fancy a little Halloween beading without committing yourself to an enormous project, Wendabella feels just about right for the start of October.

Just be polite to her.

There may be frogs involved otherwise. 🐸✨
