RIP Dolly 🥲
I’ll never forget seeing her perform the Legends slot at Glastonbury in 2014. She completely stole the show that year and filled the Pyramid Stage with pure joy. So glad I was there to see it 😊

Well it certainly shaped my musical tastes at least! Cars was released on this day in 1979 and along with Are Friends Electric? kicked off my lifelong obsession with synth music.

Sure, there had been electronic pioneering trailblazers like Kraftwerk but Gary Numan helped bring it to the mainstream. I’d never heard or seen anything like it.

Some 40 years later and it was partly responsible for me starting Pip Pop Art, inspired by the 80s artists who have had such a huge impact on me.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Released on this day in 1983, New Song was Howard Jones debut single introducing his bright optimism and synthpop magic to the world.

I took this footage 3 years ago and he still delivers it with the same energy and joy that made him one of my favourite 80s artists. Four decades on and it’s as uplifting and timeless as ever 🎹🎶🖤

Sending huge birthday love to the one and only Madonna, the ultimate queen of pop, who turns 68 today. Incredible to think when she first burst onto the early 80s scene she'd still be going strong over 40 years later. She's definitely been the blueprint for bold creativity, fearless style, and countless reinventions. Long live the Queen 🩷👑🎨
