Katumba family 💛 We’d love your support for our friends at in Olinda, Brazil, a beautiful community project close to our hearts.

If you’ve travelled to Brazil with us, you’ll know Paulo as one of the incredible workshop leaders and generous hosts who welcomes our groups into his community with so much warmth, energy and care.

Paulo grew up in Peixinhos, a low-income Afro-Brazilian community, and created this cultural centre to support local children and families through education, food, dance, culture and community.

Today, the project provides a safe space rooted in Afro-Brazilian culture, creativity and opportunity, helping young people stay connected to community, expression and hope.

This is one of the many grassroots communities that make Carnival happen in Brazil. The culture, music, movement and spirit we experience on our trips come from places like this.

We’re proud to support their fundraising campaign and “adopt” this project as part of the Katumba family.

We’re heading to Lymm, Cheshire on 16 May for one of the village’s most loved traditions.

Catch Katumba:
– 12pm Parade kicking off from Brookfield Surgery (Whitbarrow Rd, WA13 9DB)
– Bringing the rhythm through the village streets
– PLUS a live performance on the May Queen Field

Lymm May Queen is a full-on community celebration, think classic parade vibes, live acts in the arena, rides, stalls, food, drinks… the lot. Perfect for a day out with family, friends, or just soaking up something a bit special.

Massive THANK YOU to everyone who brought epic vibes, beautiful energy, and fully embraced the Katumba spirit at .

We had an absolute blast taking to the streets of Liverpool. Drums echoing, people dancing, strangers becoming friends. That’s what it’s all about.
