Hello everyone, I have an update about the future of Big Cloud Productions. As you possibly know, I got some great news about winning a VC PhD Scholarship a couple of months ago. Today, I finally received my unconditional offer for a Full-Time PhD in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at LJMU.
So, I officially start my doctorate on the 1st of Feb.
It’s a big challenge, but to give me the best chance at success, I will need to manage my workload better.
Unfortunately, this means that, from today, my studio business, Big Cloud Productions, will be on Hiatus for at least the next three to four years.
Studio work can be exciting and creative, but it’s also incredibly time-consuming and not especially lucrative. Due to the upcoming PhD program, plus my existing Deltatones and family commitments, it was clear that something had to give, hence the closure of Big Cloud.
Maybe it will return in the future, but for now, I will not be able to take on any new studio bookings.
To all my previous clients, thank you so much for hiring me. It was honestly a pleasure working with you all. Hopefully see you again, somewhere down the line.
Onwards!

Steve

Had a great session with Dino today, who was recording some parts for a fantastic Greek language original song he'd written Dino is a really great musician and an excellent songwriter. He brought some interesting 'old school' pieces of kit into the studio too, including an old drum machine and a synth.

Great session with last night. He brought in a great new song 'Stolen Harvest' we're going to build it up and release it on an unsuspecting world. Tim did his demo in garageband, but I'm going to carry on in cubase.
("Carry on in Cubase" sounds like a 70s comedy film starring Sid James and Kenneth Williams)

Hi, Steve here. Today is the launch day of my new album
'Sketches from the Bunker', produced at Big Cloud Productions.
I made this record with my best friends Jai and Colin during the 2020 lockdown and I like to think having a shared project helped us all get through it.
I'm also using the making of this album as the focus of my final year Project for my BSc in Audio and Music Production. So it's a two, or possibly three birds with one stone kind of a deal.
In a couple of months, I'll be graduating from the degree course and I might even make the dissertation available to anyone whos's interested in the more technical aspects of the album production. Many lovely vintage mics and analogue gear were used to record it, so that might be a useful resource for any of you techie folks.
If anyone wants to support, you can buy the album here
https://stevestroud.bandcamp.com/album/sketches-from-the-bunker
If you just want to have a listen, you can stream it from any of the usual digital distribution places (Spotify, apple, amazon etc).
https://open.spotify.com/album/5qS7hJqB97y1yGepbK5KW2?si=EQfFI2bmTg2kIEeR_Wv9Ig
And if on the off chance, anyone wanted a physical CD, with the artwork so you could hold it in your little hairy hands, you can buy one from Bandcamp.
Hope you enjoy the album x
