We are so happy to be able to bring to Liverpool as part of our "Cuerpos del Tiempo" partnership with the Global Collections Team at World Museum Liverpool This incredible Mayan K'iche' Activist from Guatemala.

At 3.00pm on Monday 27th July at the Treasure Theatre, World Museum, William Brown Street, Liverpool.

RECLAIMING PLACE: INDIGENOUS RESPONSES TO GLOBALIZATION

A talk by published Mayan K’iche’ anthropologist and indigenous rights activist from Guatemala MARÍA JACINTA XÓN RIQUIAC.

This conversation with María Jacinta Xón Riquiac explores how Indigenous peoples are critically examining the historical, cultural, and academic narratives that have long exoticized and marginalized them. She argues that resistance requires Indigenous communities to creatively challenge and reshape systems of justice, aesthetics, and racialized academic institutions. In doing so, they reclaim the counter-histories and perspectives that have been overlooked or erased.
