Big Teeth Theatre was started by Joel Whitall and Sean Kirkpatrick after obtaining degrees in Drama & Theatre Studies from Liverpool Hope University. We believe the theatre scene in Liverpool has been stale for far too long but never fear! Because there is a new and exciting generation of theatre and performance makers emerging in Liverpool and Big Teeth wants to provide the platform and artistic

freedoms that are lacking in this city at the minute. So if your an actor/writer/director/technician/make up artist/set designer/drinks carrier or anything to do with theatre and want to sink your teeth into something then please drop us a line!

Big Teeth are back with their latest production, Two by Jim Cartwright! Comprising of graduate performers and creative based in Liverpool, Big Teeth aim to stage modern classic works that are often discussed and critiqued, but not often seen live on local stages.

One of Cartwright’s most well known plays, ‘Two’ performed by one female (Jazz Jago) and one male (Sean Kirkpatrick) , centralises its story around the Landlord and Landlady of a pub in the north of England. Throughout the play, audiences are introduced to a variety of the pubs customers and follow the banter and bickering of the Landlord and Landlady throughout one evening of trading.

The production, to be performed at The Pilgrim Pub, Liverpool, deviates from the norm, opposing the traditional 2 chairs and a table style and venturing into the immersive. Audience members sit in booths and at tables throughout the pub as ‘customers’, the performance then happens around them and characters interact as appropriate with them.

Founded in 2013 by Sean Kirkpatrick and Joel Whitall, they say their ethos is to make mainstream theatre accessible and to provide a platform for artists to gain vital experience to build Liverpool’s theatrical scene. Sarah Sharp, the director of this production, makes her professional Debut with having graduated Edge Hill University in July 2016.

***ANNOUNCEMENT***

We can now announce that Sarah Sharp will be making her professional debut as Director for our production of Two!

Sarah is an Actress and Director based in Liverpool. Originally from Leicestershire, she moved to Liverpool to study at Edge Hill University, from which she graduated with a First Class BA Hons Drama Degree. Although her tutors always pushed her to take on more of a directing role through her “natural flare” during rehearsals for performances, Sarahs previous directing experience is limited having only really directed her dissertation piece 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead'. In this she found a new, somewhat unexpected love for making theatre in a different capacity. Sarah comes to Big Teeth with a wealth of performing credits including ‘Penelope Pennywise’ in Urinetown: The Musical, ‘Melissa’ in the Short Film Yours-x, ‘Gretyl’ in Don Juan Comes Back From The War and ‘Maddy’ in This Is A Chair.
Alongside directing our production of Two, Sarah has just finished filming for The Diary Of An A***n Girl and is Resident Assistant Director of One Hour Theatre Company.

***CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT***

Big Teeth's own Sean Kirkpatrick will be playing all male roles in our production of Two!

Sean is a 25 year old Liverpool Hope University graduate with experience in acting, producing and directing. Originally from brighton, Sean has been in Liverpool for 6 years now performing in a variety of plays from RW Fassbinder’s 'Pre Paradise, Sorry Now' to Federico García Lorca's tragedy 'Blood Wedding'. In 2013 Sean and a University friend set up Big Teeth Theatre. From there Big Teeth has produced a number of plays including giving the opportunity for new writers to have their plays produced and performed in a professional theatre - most notably Big Teeth were in the Shiney New Festival in the Lantern Theatre. 2017 looks busy for Big Teeth as well with 3 plays already in the pipe line for that year and Sean hopes that, therefore, 2017 will be a great year for him.
