In 1981, always thinking of ideas to get ‘Bums in Bed’s, in her job as PR & Marketing executive for a chain of hotels, Joy Swift came up with the original and innovative idea of inviting guests to be dropped into an Agatha Christie type movie and be able to watch the action, interrogate the suspects and solve the crime. After international press coverage Joy left the hotel chain and set up her own
company, Murder Weekends Limited and has been performing her original ingenious concept ever since. Joy’s idea mushroomed and in 1983 she took her idea to the US, and performed with American actors at the Vista International Hotel in New York. Within 6 months of Joy’s first weekend in the States, imitations had sprung up worldwide on cruise ships, in hotels and on trains
