Cards are an ancient Kemetic tradition, 1000s of years old. Making cards is a way of helping to create more TOGETHERNESS, COMPASSION and LOVE in the world. Cards are an ancient Kemetic tradition, 1000s of years old. I’d never bought a greeting card for my mum, w

ith an image of a Rasta woman on it, so I realized it was time to change things…

Lao-tzu said 'The longest journey begins with a single step', and this is my first step; setting up AKOMA ARTS a greeting card company, producing positive Afrikan images. Akoma means ‘the heart’, ‘take heart’ and ‘patience’. The spider’s web is a symbol of wisdom, creativity and the complexities of life (Ananse Ntontan). Both come from the Akan language of West Afrika. I’m an independent artist in the UK, seeking supporters to help me pursue my passion of bringing local images to global audiences. Love and compassion for the ‘Afrikan family’ is the foundation and destination for all that I do. Join me on this adventurous journey, exploring the myriad of images that reflect our beautiful, interesting and dynamic culture. Support is needed from true friends, and new friends to walk with me, talk with me, pick me up when I trip or fall and most definitely rise with me. Greeting cards are an ancient Kemetic tradition, thousands of years old. It’s my way of extending love to the world.
