Freefall

Freefall Freefall was an aerial Circus company who have now wound up but it’s founders live on.

Freefall aim to promote, develop and engage in the arts of aerial circus and other related skills from our home here in Liverpool. We have recently emerged as a new organisation after ten years of development, performance and teaching activities as black&blue. We are currently based at The Florrie in Toxteth where we run adult aerial classes as well as a youth circus group. We specialise in teachi

ng static trapeze, silks, hoop and corde lisse as well as a variety of other circus skills. We are happy to arrange private classes, workshops and parties and we also perform and run workshops on a regular basis for various festivals and other outdoor and indoor events in the Liverpool area. Freefall have been running adult aerial and youth circus classes at The Florrie since 2014 when they launched as a not-for-profit community interest company run by Barry Welsh and Nick Hunt, both experienced teachers and practitioners who have been delivering high quality circus education in Liverpool for the last 10 years. Barry has a background in teaching dance and drama in further education as well as having run his own physical theatre company. He is a qualified circus instructor having studied at the highly regarded Circomedia school in Bristol. Nick has a background in visual arts and also taught in further and adult education after studying at post graduate level at MMU. He has worked in partnership with Barry since joining black&blue and training and teaching aerial circus since they were invited to be the resident company at Liverpool's Novas CUC in 2008.

Boris Johnson is evidently more concerned with boosting his popularity than he is about the potential lethal consequences of boasting about what he is doing for Ukraine. The man is clearly a self-obsessed idiot of the first order.

Just wanted to share this post with everyone.

"In light of the Government strongly advising against any non-essential activities and travel, National Centre for Circus Arts has made the difficult decision to close the building. Our aim is to restart the term as normal from 20 April, however we will continue to monitor this as the situation evolves."

As you all know we made the decision to suspend our classes until further notice at the beginning of the week. I know it's a difficult time for people who run small businesses like ours, and for all our students who enjoy our regular aerial sessions, but the most important thing at this time is to keep everyone as safe as possible. Government advice is to avoid all non-essential travel and activities, and sadly aerial circus is non-essential. Our friends at Circus House in Manchester have suspended all their classes for now as have a number of other training spaces and institutions. We think this is absolutely the right thing to do to keep people safe.

Keep checking back here for further updates, and in the meantime stay strong and stay healthy. Big love and virtual hugs to you all. Nick

Hey folks! In the light of the recent government advice regarding social activities during the Corinavirus pandemic (and also our own concerns to be perfectly honest!) I'm sorry to say we'll be cancelling our Freefall aerial classes until further notice. Block bookings will be carried over to when we start up again which hopefully will be in the not too distant future. Might be a good idea to make a note of how many you have left! Please take care of yourselves and your friends and families. It's going to be a difficult time for everyone but I'm sure we'll all get through it and be back to play again before too long. Stay safe and stay strong! 😘 xx
