🧡 New! The Wonder of Poetry – National Poetry Day 2026 - School Workshops 🧡
Every year, we develop workshops to tie in with the annual theme of National Poetry Day – and these meet with huge success right across the country. This year is no different – and we’re delighted to announce that we have a whole range of programmes to tie in with the 2026 theme of Wonder: The Wonder of Poetry!
Poetry exemplifies both meanings of the word “wonderful” – because it can be “wonderful” in its own right, whilst giving us a way of expressing questions, both big and small, that show how we wonder about the world around us. Designed to take the sometimes intimidating sting out of poetry, The Wonder of Poetry lets pupils explore for themselves both definitions by crafting words into poems.
🎶 Primary School workshops explore:
EYFS and KS1: Our Wonderful World
Years 3 & 4: Wonders of the World
Years 5 & 6: Acrostic Wonders
🎶 Secondary School workshops:
After playing a game challenging both their rhyming skills and their knowledge of some landmark moments in the history of humanity, including the discovery of fire, the Industrial Revolution and first humans on the moon. Students collaboratively craft the first six lines of a sonnet – a paean to the power of wonder – before working individually, in pairs or in threes to complete their poems.
