MA24 is proud to support Matt Routledge and his action sci-fi short film, Hunted, as it heads to Los Angeles this weekend for the Big Bad Film Fest. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

Directed by Matt Routledge and starring martial arts action star Mark Strange, Hunted combines old-school practical action with modern VFX.

🥋 The film is dedicated to martial arts legend Chuck Norris.

This also marks a growing collaboration between MA24 Magazine and Sport Nunchaku International, connecting our martial arts community with actors, directors, champions and martial artists doing exciting things around the world.

Short Film #24: Story of the Dragon, dir. Matt Routledge

Synopsis: A man who struggles with the tragic loss of his daughter is rejuvenated by his passion for Bruce Lee.

About the Director: Matt Routledge is a British action director known for fusing authentic martial arts choreography with grounded, emotionally driven storytelling. With over three decades of experience in film and television, he has carved out a distinct voice in the action-thriller genre; combining precision fight craft with cinematic
style.

Matt began his career with a degree in media production, after gaining experience at Granada and Sony Entertainment, he went on to direct 'Fist of Justice' and 'Crazy in Love', and worked internationally as a stunt performer and action director. In Thailand, he collaborated with Jackie Chan on 'The Medallion' and served as action director on 'Final Combat', the final martial arts production from legendary producer Menahem Golan. Over the next decade, Matt honed his visual craft as a Director of Photography before returning to directing with the award-winning short 'Fixer' (2016), and 'Manipulation', which earned over 17 international festival awards. In 2020, he directed the indie action-horror 'Tribal', which received global recognition, including Best Action awards in both the US and UK.
Most recently, Matt completed 'The Awakening', a high-concept conspiracy thriller featuring Peter Stormare, Alice Eve, Steven Berkoff and Justin Tinto. The film was spotlighted in Variety during the Cannes Film Festival. With 'The Awakening', Matt demonstrates his ability to handle ambitious, star-driven narratives while maintaining the visceral action sensibility that defines his work.
