A gorgeous afternoon spent at a (M)other creative hangout. Such a brilliant space thanks to and for hosting us organised by who showed their wonderful spaces including her studio!

Chats about family (big 1st birthdays, children's school life and shows!), art in progress, and testing out ideas together, while continuing to think about next collective steps.

(M)other's day out! part 2...

We used the opportunity of gathering today to chat about where we are up to and where we'd like to go next. It was great to start 2026 as we mean to go on by gathering. We intend to make our meetups more regular to allow for a natural progression of our ideas for next steps. We are so proud of the work we developed and the sense of togetherness we deepened last year. Not only are we excited to build on this for ourselves but also to find ways to share the love ❤️

Exciting things ahead!

(M)other's day out! Part 1...

It was great to finally get us altogether and start 2026 as we mean to go on. We gathered at the in Liverpool today. It was brilliant to take some time together to check out the and Vivienne Westwood exhibition, some of us taking well deserved solo time, others with children in tow. Continuing to deepen our practices being inspired by others' work and mothering each other as we chat about not just art but family life.

⚠️ Safety information from Friends of Hilbre group:

Always be sure to check tide times for the day you wish to visit before you make the journey over (these are different every day).

It is safe to cross from West Kirby 3 hours after high tide.

You must leave the island at least 3 hours before the next high tide.

It takes around 1 hour to walk from the marine lake to the main island (longer for slower walkers or when carrying heavy loads).

Check the notice board on the slipway.

WALK FROM THE MARINE LAKE SLIPWAY TO THE LITTLE ISLAND AND THEN ONTO THE MAIN ISLANDS.

DO NOT ATTEMPT to cross from Hoylake as there is a deep muddy channel blocking your crossing. ⚠️

Introducing Lucy Roose ...
Born 1991. An Italian-English multi-disciplinary artist. At the age of 13 began working as a tailors apprentice in a Bridal Boutique in Hull. Studied at London College of Fashion with a special interest in womenswear and life drawing. Studied at Goldsmiths University graduating in Fine Art, with a special interest in the phenomenology of participatory art and the potential beneficial impact relating to social change, as well as the more personal philosophical and phenomenological human experiences such as death, grief and dying. Working as a healthcare worker in differing communities across the UK and attending a week’s introduction by the British Association of Art Therapists in Manchester led to training to be an Art Psychotherapist with Chester University.

What it means to be human continues to be the subject of my art practice with the belief that the purpose of sharing art is to be reflective, informative and offer ways of thinking, seeing and feeling that can be of beneficial use to society. More recently, the experience of becoming mother has been the particular focus that informs emerging work.
