Arrive early so you don’t miss the binturong scatter feed and talk at 11.30am and the animal encounter at 1pm. Yesterday’s visitors were able to meet Ralph our Madagasgan Greater Hedgehog Tenrec. Keeper Kieran explained that although Ralph looks like a hedgehog, tenrecs are in fact not related to true hedgehogs but their closest living evolutionary relatives are elephants, aardvarks and manatees😃. 🌞🌞🌞Here you can enjoy the sunshine, shady walks and relaxing seating areas. But be mindful that today’s Linton forecast is set to be around 32 degrees with a UV index of 8. Bring plenty of drinking water, your sunglasses, hat and sunscreen.😊
If you are planning to visit please do also remember that dogs and pets are not allowed in to any part of the zoo, this also includes any you might think are okay in climate controlled vehicles.

🌞🌞🌞🌞As local temperatures reach to over 30 degrees we would like to assure you that all of our animal family are coping very well. Enclosure design and good husbandry provisions mean that we are always prepared for both weather extremes.
We are seeing many of our animals resting up in the shade of mature trees, having more frequent dips in their pools or taking advantage of all the mod cons in their temperature controlled indoor areas.
The shady woodland walkways have been great for our visitors too.

Our Lowland tapir calf “Barney Rubble”😊 is now 13 weeks old! He is an adorable bundle of mischievous trouble🥰. Here he is joining mum for an afternoon snack of willow browse this afternoon.

Zoos work closely together, we are a big family😊.
On Wednesday hosted a event for zoo staff to get together to discuss and review the use of social media to help promote our work and conservation efforts. Also responsible development of our animal experiences. Four of our team members were able to attend. A huge thank you to SZN and the team at Newforest Wildlife Park for an absolutely brilliant day.
