It's my favourite Mother In Law's birthday, obviously I took her for dinner but only after I gave her the gift of a super cute tattoo.
Just to be clear while the tattooing is available to all, I generally avoid dinner dates for fear of divorce 😉
Today was epic.
Completed a whopping shin/calf tattoo for my main man and long time supporter . A long time tattoo enthusiast it was a great honour to be commissioned to create and ink up his fjrst tattoo in 10 years.
The photos don't really do it justice but, since I get to hang out with him in pursuit of Jiu Jitsu greatness, I'll snag some healed photos very soon. And yes he sat like a boss, what else would you expect?

Had great fun doing these yesterday but today I'm out of the studio and shackled to decorating duty. This means I'll be listening to people talk about episodes of Columbo and scraping walls, with tears in my eyes 😢

Tuesday's my day off... unless it's not.
Having been offered the chance to blast out a cool mandala I cancelled my leave and headed into the studio.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, cool client and fun design to work on.
I've since spent the last two hours writing 20 seconds worth of guitar riffs but I needn't burden you with that tedium 😞
Exciting times, I took my first booking in my New diary, that's right a brand new old school diary!
I still have some space in August but at least one of those dates is gone, you have been warned so no complaints.
Cool tats for a cool fella who's building a real collection, today was deadly spiders and vicious blades.
The most difficult bit? Avoiding splattering ink over a crisp and clean white top....it wasn't mine I only wear black of course 😉
For those who have been paying close attention you may remember this piece of biomech from many moons ago. It wasn't mine butI was tasked with completing the piece.
What we've done now is extend the piece further onto the shoulder. We got lining in so the stencil will not be required and managed to complete shading for one section all ready to crack on for the next sitting.
While it can be a bit frustrating to be half finished I actually like working in this way because it's a great chance for me to check healing before completion and adapt the application if necessary.
The art of the cover-up.
Successful cover-ups work in two ways:
1) They cover the image, you whack on something bigger and darker.
2) They distract pulling the eye away from the original design.
With this one I was able to work into the original ink and while the original tattoo remains you'd have to pay very close attention to spot it, the type of attention that might warrant either criminal charges or marriage.
But not everything can be covered and if you truly hate it, the fact it's still there can drive you nuts. If that's the case it's time to jump on .u.laser
Look at this eagle, we can imagine it's engaged in a mortal struggle, encapsulating man's perpetual war against the id or maybe it's just a badass trad tat.
Now, imagine this can be yours and for only £90, but when? Imagine I have space this very week, including, but not limited to Saturday afternoon.

Out of the studio today but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking about tattooing.
I got a chance to capture an image of this fella all healed up, and to see how the shades had settled down. I'm pleased to say that it turned out exactly as expected so both me and the owner are very pleased.
There is a huge element of trust in all tattoos and in this case my trust in both the process and the inks was justified.
I am so behind on my posting!
Anyway, here's a couple from earlier in the week and a public service announcement.
If you choose to joke that I have spelt your tattoo wrong you will be responsible for apoplectic fit and it's your job to wave the fan while I regain my composure and wait for my symptoms to pass.

Why are these children moaning?
I think they want sweets or food or fun or shelter or something, but they can't have it because I spent it all my cash on colours 😂
Why not help them out by grabbing some trad flash and I promise I'll spend the money on sustenance and not sweets for me.

Those more eagle eyed denizens of Instagram may note that it doesn't look much like Howarth, turns out the sat nav lied 😂
Don't panic though we still had great day and I doodled up some flash on the drive out... I am now legally obligated to state that I was merely a passenger and not the driver.
The only problem is I'm being forced to listen to Cher on the way home. I wish I could turn back time ðŸ˜
Today I am channeling my inner bank teller and not going to work. Instead I have dragged these young heathens out and about in the rainsoaked wilderness.

Cracking day in the studio yesterday.
I drove in accompanied by - to be clear he wasn't present I have a compact disc which contains his voice, like having a goblin in a box - I digress - finished the day listening to motown in the studio and on the way home - after all variety is he spice of life.
Anyway I had the pleasure of returning to this, what began as a simple recolour because testament to the addictive nature of tattoos as the ink blossomed into this magnificent piece.
One thing I love about tattooing is getting to hang out with cool people and yesterday had loads of that for me.
Great day in the studio yesterday, finished off a rouge butterfly, got a sweet walk in tattoo and snagged an hour to draw some demons.

Well, it neatly documents my war with gravity, capturing the fear and terror that one might encounter if you spin an client beyond stability, stability and into freefall!

The original had been hanging around a while and was suffering a little.
A couple of hours in the chair and this is now good as new. If you're looking to breath some fresh life into a tattoo then you know where I am.
Here's a sneaky shot of a slithering snake I did sometime in the recent past. There aren't many snakes in Linthwaite since the great purging of 1836 but we know there's at least one in the wild.
Having spent the week meeting some wonderful people and being honoured with their trust, I keep bumping into these awesome people and seeing my work in the wild. Thank you all, tattooing is a two person job and without you I'd just have a very well decorated leg.

I was left a little dumbfounded (which is very unusual for me) what do I specialise in?
Lots of script, I've been mobbed by butterflies, but I also did a party hat riding a bike, a cow sat on the moon and more than a few demons.
This doesn't answer the question though.
Good customer service, bad jokes and perpetual fear of failure, that's what I specialise in.

Had a great day yesterday hanging with wonderful who's nearest and dearest have been staunch supporters since day one.
Super stoked with this custom design and can't wait to see it heal up, graduated greys flowing into black, the aim was to build texture and in two weeks time we shall know quite how successful I've been!
