I’m often asked where I get my inspiration from. The easiest answer is my surroundings. I love nothing more than wandering around soaking up the world around me. Sometimes in natural settings . . . Sometimes at a window in a pub on a busy street watching people rushing or ambling by. At the start of the year I took a stained glass course and was inspired by my walks along the canal around Linlithgow for my first stained glass project. The beautiful fields of bright yellow rapeseed flowers framed with the canal, footpath and edged by trees was something I’ve been trying to work with for some time. I loved my finished piece! I can’t recommend the Glass Lab in Edinburgh enough. The tutelage was incredibly exact and I’m looking forward to another course in the autumn. My finished stained glass piece has become the focus of one of my new bodies of work which I will be showing for the first time in August. You’ll find those vibrant landscapes throughout my prints, functional pottery pieces, Jewelry and tile works. Don’t panic! There will still be a continuation of seascapes as well as hand sculptured hares, seals, whales and more!
