🐉 You may have spotted a new arrival at Lincoln Castle… 👀

Something BIG has landed!

Say hello to Hastings – our newest dragon, who’s been settling into his new home in the Castle grounds over the past few days. 🐲

Inspired by the mythical beasts pictured in the Bayeux Tapestry, Hastings takes his name from the monumental Battle of Hastings in 1066 – an event that changed the course of English history. ⚔️

And there’s a little more to the story… 👀

Just two years after the Norman Conquest, Lincoln Castle was built by William the Conqueror as a stronghold to help defend his newly won realm. 🏰 So, it seems only fitting that Hastings has chosen Lincoln Castle as his new home!

Now that he’s officially settled in, Hastings will be keeping a very close eye on some BIG things happening at the Castle:
🚀 28–31 August: Weekend at the Asylum – journey to a time that never was at the world’s largest and longest-running steampunk festival, brought to you by the Ministry of Steampunk itself!

🚴 Lloyds Tour of Britain: Soak up the race-day atmosphere as Lincoln Castle becomes the official Tour Village, complete with an outdoor screen showing all the live action, local food and drink, and plenty of cycling-themed activities.

And if you haven’t spotted him yet… don’t worry!
👀 Hastings isn’t going anywhere. He’ll be guarding his lair at Lincoln Castle for a long time to come, so there’ll be plenty of chances to meet our newest dragon. 🐉❤️
