Sunday Making 🌺 We saw blue sky and sunshine in my corner of Lincolnshire today - yes really, blue sky!

In between family chaos and teaching swimming, I found time to finish this little punch needle piece. Bursting with texture and cheeriness, made entirely by hand with my trusty punch needle and 100% British breed rug wool 🧶 There are a few thousand loops of yarn even in this piece measuring just 21x21cm.

I love this heritage craft, a traditional way of making rugs with heirloom quality. Hope you like it! Should this design be my next workshop in June…?! 🙂

It’s nearly time to move my certification rug along the gripper frame to work on the other half. It would be so easy to rush this last section in order to move on…

But with my broken arm and a desire to maintain the quality of punching throughout, I’m taking my time and still using my stitch gauge to check my work regularly. Maybe tomorrow it will be time to move it… 🙂🧶

Here’s my latest piece of punch needle art. This piece is called ‘‘Ey Up Swardle’ - a celebration of both the Swaledale sheep breed, the regional dialect and the fabulous British breed wools we have and need to utilise more (in my humble opinion).

It has been quite a challenge working on this with a broken arm, but I’m pleased with the results. Happy Sunday everyone 🙂🧶🐑
