This week, we're turning our Alt Shift hour to those one-hit wonders. The artists that held so much potential but after one charting tune, remained live or album bands. We're looking forward to sharing our selection with you - and there were so many that didn't make the cut, there will be another One Hit Wonders Show in the future.

Yes... we’re STILL talking about Bearded Theory Festival. 😅

One interview that didn’t quite go to plan was Jess’s chat with Opus Kink. Sadly, the official interview fell through (a real bummer!), but festival magic had other ideas. She bumped into the band later in the weekend, grabbed a photo, and managed to squeeze in a quick chat.

When asked what their favourite part of the festival had been, their answer was immediate: the burritos. 🌯😂

They also gave a shout-out to the Woodland Stage, which seems to be a firm favourite with both musicians and festival-goers alike. There’s just something special about that space tucked away in the trees.

Jess also asked what they thought about their music being described as a “genre-blending nightmare of the best kind.” Their response? What people think of their music isn’t really up to them. Fair enough! We liked the answer!

As for their set... it was absolutely wild. The pit was buzzing, and at one point the saxophonist was crowd-surfing while still playing. That’s the kind of thing you don’t forget in a hurry. 🎷🤘

Their sound is a glorious smorgasbord of chaos: jazz, post-punk, experimental Americana, brass that delivers “horn-fuelled funk”, and enough energy to power a small town. Standing still clearly isn’t an option for Opus Kink.
