Sadly, the landlord of the Royal Oak has decided to stop hosting Spoaken Word Lewes. As I will be leaving Lewes soon, it is not worth finding a new venue, so I’m afraid that means no more Spoaken Word Lewes.
It’s been a brilliant two years since our launch in September 2021. Thank you to all our feature poets and especially to our open mic’ers. And a tip of the hat to our open mic’ers who became feature poets.
As none of us knew that August’s SWL would be our last, you are all invited to an evening of informal chatting, laughter, refreshment and good company on the day that the next SWL would have taken place: Sunday 10 September. Time, venue and details to follow.
I hope you will continue taking part in local spoken word events, in particular those hosted by our friends at Seahaven Poets and Open Mic Lewes.
