I made this video to support The Human Made Mark campaign, which strives to support human-made films as they are being threatened by gen AI. When I used to work in the film industry as a sculptor, much of the work was creating bas-relief panels such as architectural detailing, caryatids, mascarons and gargoyles etc to adorn the sets. I thought that sharing this instructional process video would be a fitting tribute to just one of the thousands of creative processes that could be lost if human made films were to be replaced by AI. There is a longer, slower version of this video, with audio description of how to sculpt a relief panel and cast it in plaster with a waste mould on my YouTube channel. I have a question… how on earth is anybody supposed to clock up 4000 viewing hours on YouTube in order to switch over to monetisation? It seems like an impossibly high bar to reach, especially since the algorithms don’t seem to be showing the videos I share to anywhere near all of my 25k subscribers. (I started my channel many years ago and then left it dormant for many years. Some of the early videos have very high viewing numbers but the 4000 hours must be from the last year. It seems to be much harder to reach these high numbers nowadays). Any advice hugely appreciated!!

It will really help me. I have invested a huge about of time, work and money into creating a 20 episode live-action sculpting series, which I am very keen to launch, but I really need to at least make a little bit of money back for my efforts, so am desperate to reach the 4000 viewing hours bench mark.

This is our longest sculpting-process video ever! Many people have asked me over the years for a real-time head-sculpting video. Well, actual real-time is impossible as it would be a several-days-long video and would be extremely boring to watch. I set myself the challenge of sculpting this little half life-sized head with as much footage as possible, whilst hopefully being interesting and helpful to watch.
