Slot Machine Theatre We make magical theatre work for families and young people. Our shows are great for all ages and we specialise in theatre for family audiences.

Lots of us aren’t able to go and see a show with our families or schools this year, so here at Slot Machine HQ, we thought WE’D bring the show to YOU. The team behind Slot Machine have been making shows for over 20 years. We have created theatre-based and site-specific work, for the Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Theatre, The Young Vic, the Globe, The Kosh, LIFT and the People Show. Since forming Slot Machine Theatre company in 2006, we have also become leaders in educational workshops for schools. OUR ARTISTIC DIRECTORS...

Nick Tigg - Nick is a writer, director, performer and musician and has many years experience creating and devising works for the theatre and site-specific pieces. He has taught theatre skills and devising throughout the world. He has worked with the experimental theatre company the People Show since 1992 and is a member of the People Show core group. Fiona Creese - Fiona trained at London Contemporary Dance School and for the last 20 years she has created and devised theatre for numerous companies. She has worked regularly for The Kosh company, co-creating The Act, Marked Cards, Telling Tales, Dinner Dance, 3 Point Turn, Falling Angels and Twentieth Century Girls. Since 1992 she has created work with the People Show, including Show Number 99: The Ballroom Show, Number 105: Fetch the Gramophone Out, Number 108: Flaming Locks, Number 111: The Slide Show, and Number 115: The Obituary Show. Nicola Blackwell - Nicola is a theatre maker whose work spans performing, direction and design. A member of the People Show, she co-created and performed in shows number 114, Play Dead; 112, The Art Of Escape; 117, The Birthday Show; and 113, the award-winning Baby Jane. As a performer, a selection of her credits include: Market Boy (National Theatre); Herge’s Adventures of Tintin (Playhouse, West End); Strike Gently, Away From Body and Perilous Stuff (Young Vic); The Sound Collector (Sheffield Crucible); and Mountain Language (Royal Court).

It’s winter and Hog is really cold. This little hedgehog needs somewhere cosy to snuggle up - but where?

This half-term (Monday February 12th–Friday 16th), SNUGgle up at The Barn Theatre at The Bright Foundation , Hastings, in this interactive, exploratory experience and theatre show that gently leads audiences into the heart of a magical wintery forest.

There, they will meet a hedgehog looking for a warm place to sleep and the animals who help the little critter find a cosy home.

SNUG is set in a specially designed space where real trees, undulating hills, far-reaching vistas, and a beautiful soundtrack instantly transport audiences to a magical forest.

At the heart of each experience is a 20-minute storytelling performance, which brings to life the book written specifically for this piece.

The show is aimed at 0-4-year-olds, but SNUG will appeal to all members of the family, an experience for everyone from the youngest to oldest to share.

Relaxed performances at 10:30 on Tuesday and 2:00 on Thursday

🤶 🧑‍🎄 Wow! That was fun. But now the last wish has been wished and the final ho ho ho is echoing away. The grotto is closed and Santa, Mrs Claus and the elf are headed back to their home to get ready for the big night! There's a lot to do!

🎄 Thanks to the Mayor for lending his beautiful Parlour, and a ho ho ho to Lewes District Council for their wonderful support! And thanks to everyone who came to the town hall, you were all amazing!

❄️ Now, Santa is rather busy, so we should let him get on. Perhaps we'll see you all next year! Happy Christmas, everyone!

Our Story

We make theatre that is weird and wonderful and funny and extraordinary - but not impossibly obscure. Our shows are great for all ages and we specialise in theatre for family audiences. This Autumn/Winter 2018 we are touring our family production Your Toys! Bring your own toy to the show and watch them take part in an epic adventure. A truly engaging show ideal for ages 5-9.
