Yelena is a complex and quietly tragic character, defined less by action and more by emotional tension and dissatisfaction. She is married to an older, self-absorbed professor, a match that leaves her unfulfilled. The marriage represents her sense of being trapped in a life she did not fully choose. She is drawn to Doctor Astrov, whose passion and ideals contrast sharply with her stagnant life.

Dr. Mikhail Astrov is a thoughtful but disillusioned rural doctor. He is intelligent, idealistic, and deeply concerned with environmental conservation, especially deforestation. He is capable of passion but ultimately his character embodies the tension between idealism and reality.

For our audience members who prefer the personal touch, our Box Office hours for UNCLE VANYA are below.
10.30am - 12noon - Monday 22nd June, Wednesday 24th June, Friday 26th June and Monday 29th June, Wednesday 1st July, Friday 3rd July. Box office is also open 45 minutes prior to each performance.

Sonya Serebryakov is a compassionate, hardworking, and quietly resilient young woman. She is devoted to her family’s estate and takes on much of the work needed to keep it running. Although she is deeply in love with Dr. Astrov, her feelings are unreturned, which causes her quiet emotional pain.
