NOHAT was formed by Ana Ortega and Sophie Atkins, born out of a frustration that the work of women artists often remains unseen and unrecognised and a deep desire to bring about change. NOHAT is back and ready for another all-female show. And that means OPEN CALL time! We are looking for work by female artists for our upcoming group exhibition hosted by Broadway Gallery, Letchworth UK on the theme of SPACE, PLACE, and how we RELATE to it.

Some ideas for starters: Psychogeography. Our bodies in relation to our environment. Who is the urban landscape built for? Us and the countryside and nature. Power over place. Ownership of space. Trespass/Access. Public/Private. How place shapes thoughts. "A woman's place". Know your place. Headspace. Outer space...

The exhibition will take place between 28th April and 3rd June 2023. Private view 27th April.
We will consider all media including painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles, video, installation, sound etc. We would also love to include performance works on a particular date(s) to be decided by NOHAT, the gallery and the artist(s).
To apply please send the following: 1. High-res images of up to three works that you’d like to be considered (longest edge 1500-2400 pixel, saved at 150dpi), 2. A short text about each of the works, including dimensions (ca.100 words), 3. A short bio (ca.100 words). Send all of these to [email protected] by 6th February 2023 with “Space/Place & (your name)” in the subject line.
No application fee. Open to all artists who identify as female, irrespective of age/location.
We can't wait to receive your submissions!
