No tours today with this poor day of weather with snow. Will be working in the fully booked guest house with guests leaving and lots of new guests arriving, it's been a very busy year so far.

Always on days like these in my busy work schedule I manage tae find time for some home baking, the guests like a treat every now and again too.

We are thrilled to be contacted today with news we have won another Traveller Review Award for 2025, what a fantastic start to the year, we have been recognised globally for our home-away-from-home experience we offer is something special, the review highlights it’s no surprise that our guests have recognised my small business with such outstanding ratings and suggest it’s time to celebrate all our incredible hard work, dedication and passion. Its so lifting after all the hard work we put in every year for our customers as they arrive to explore my birthland Shetland.

Wow, wow and wow, what a way to end the year. Never did I expect only weeks ago to be contacted out of the blue and informed I had been listed in the 2024 top 100 business women in Tourism.

Today I recieved an unexpected email to advise me that I have been nominated for Fellowship of the Tourist society in this year’s annual review, I'm speechless.

If things couldn't get any better I recieved my last review of the year for my small business Norlande Guest House and was so happy that my customers really enjoy their stay with me.

This card was left on check out from a woman who travelled from China just to see the Northern Lights, this last week I also had a top corporate lawyer who flew in from Columbia, a couple from Brazil and a corporate banker from Sri Lanka who enjoyed his stay so much he's booked next year already.

I'm sure all my fellow hard working self employed businesses would agree with me that it's no breeze running your own business and maintaining it at the top level for your customers but beautiful cards and little gifts from the best customers from around the world realy make it all worthwhile.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all my customers and wish you a very Merry Christmas and all the health and happiness for 2025❤️🎅🥂🍾🌟
