“Mosaic crochet is a colourwork technique that creates intricate, geometric designs without having to change colors in the middle of a row. By alternating rows of yarn and using just three basic stitches and dropped double crochets—you can produce stunning, woven-looking work.”

We are offering 2 classes if you would like to book on and have a go at learning this technique. The classes will be led by Caroline Lugo and will be £8 per person per class. This will include being taught the technique, a pattern to follow and refreshments.

You can bring your own crochet hook size 3.5 or 4 and DK wool - (2 colours will be needed) or you can buy from us on the morning. You must know the basics of crochet (not for beginners).

On Saturday afternoon we had our third sewing class run by Gen of The students made lined pouches and learnt how to sew in a zip!

I am delighted to let you know that we will be running some more classes on the following dates:

Tuesday 1st September - 10.30am-1pm
Saturday 12th September - 2.30pm - 5pm
Saturday 3rd October - 2.30pm - 5pm

As I was saying the other day, I never know what might come through the door next 🙃 So when a lady brought a very sad, but much cherished baby doll who was so old her original rubber arms and legs had perished I was challenged to help her. So a little bit of research and some basic canvas shapes I have given her a new lease of life 🤗. Waiting for her owner to come and pick her up!

Today our workshop space realised its potential and hosted its first “Learning to use your Sewing Machine” class. Led by Gen of we had 5 lovely ladies who each made an appliquéd cushion. Thank you everyone we hope you enjoyed yourselves!

Never a dull moment in my job! Something different from chairs and chests. I occasionally get asked to do a taxidermy fish tank by a collector I know. A very sad couple of Cooper Roach caught in 1903. The case was dusty and dirty, the back paper bubbled loose and the reeds dry and colourless or missing completely. So I have overhauled, painted fresh reeds and grasses and stuck it all back together again. Fortunately we had the original glass which I have taped back into place. Hopefully that will last another 123 years 🐟 🐠

An update on the Beginners Sewing Machine classes we are running in July in conjunction with Nest Sewing School | North London & Suffolk

Saturday 25th July is fully booked (thank you everyone!) but we do still have 2 places on Saturday 4th July - make a cushion cover and Tuesday 21st July - make a tote bag.
