This week’s page Turner is called Alice the Kintsugi edition. This was the first time I used gold acrylic paint to re-create the style of Kisugi on the damaged parts of the book, and has lead to me using this in my practice more often. Unless experiment you never know what’s gonna happen.

This is a Magners Horse and Stock book from the early 1900's This book was in a batterd state. It had no spine cover and was a little grubby. This book had loads of hand written notes in it and the original information paper with what the book was about on the inside. This has been used to cover the spine and the book has been created into a double sided book carving. These are great books to use and this is the second time I have used one of these as they have approx 1700 illustratons in them. If another one comes my way I will do another one.

In the foreground of the carving we can see a young woman captured by the hanging vines and in the background we can see a large male demon coming to get her from the trap. It could just represent the good old horror story or
Its called you've created a monster because throughout history women have been often blamed for the affect they have on men and the male gaze, she is trapped by society and how you should be. Its available in store now.

Tick Tock ! It’s Thursday Page Turner and this is my latest book carving work in progress. I have this wonderful vintage Alice In Wonderland children’s book that has those really thick cotton feel pages in them. But I had an amazing illustrations of Alice falling down the rabbit hold in another book. This is not the traditional known Alice drawings by John Tenniel but by Holland Thompson in a different children’s book. I also found some vintage glass fronts from clocks at a boot sale and thanks to for challenging me to see if I could do a pocket watch in the book. This book is called Tick Tock! Subtitle of Were Late and is now available in my store now.
