For those who remember and for those who havent seen it, you may be surprised to know I don’t just carve books. This was one of the most favourite things I have ever created. It was part of my art and design degree course. This is my used teabag parasol. Tea bags are empty and then water coloured and stitched to the parasol.

When reading through the books as I am looking for illustrations and I find it interesting to see little snippets of history and note how things have now changed. Like course prices . Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it was only £20. But this was the 1900s I’m thinking that it wasn’t cheep.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a 1970s X-ray light box, luckily I still have a few X-rays left to play with, but I won’t be stitching into it this time. But I will be doing something. #
This is the most full length version of a Time-lapse that I’ve managed to do so far. This is a very shallow cut book and it’s gonna be placed in a small suitcase.
Err don’t really know what to do with it now I’ve noticed it’s a first edition , goes against my rules of cutting up first editions from 1916 🫤.

This little one is part of a three book commission. I think this must be the thinnest smallest book I have ever done one of these on, but it’s so cute 🥰. The original book did not contain the images, they were left over from previous dictionaries.

Do you know I have used the same book three times and carved it differently every time ? The book is a Readers Digest and is called Folklore Myth and Legends of Britain. I have often wondered how many different versions of one book I could do.

Been playing with the leather paints today, hubby wanted me to get a jacket for when I go on the bike with him, so I said if I that’s the case I am buying a vintage bike jack and painting the back. The jacket was dry and stiff, I stripped the glaze, fed the leather and over two days painted my fav villain on it. I am using printed illustrations from Alice in Wonderland. The reason being the book is too large for any illustrations from normal books. When they’re all in place I will be water colouring them all and Illustrating them all by hand so it shouldn’t look like they’ve just been printed. fingers crossed. As I said it’s taking forever to cut the pages because they are so thick.
